Welcome Sara!
You've made a great choice to quit! Have your coping mechanisms ready....drink lots of water, keep a list of your reasons to quit closeby, use candy, gum, whatever...just no smokes. What was really helpful for me was slow deep breaths during a crave. It mimicked the drag from a cig, but I imagined the clean air filling my lungs. I didn't do the straw, but it helps many. And I pretty much lived on this site at first, it really helps to read that what you're feeling is normal.
Positive self talk worked for me, just telling myself that I'm a nonsmoker now...period.
My hubby also was smoking when I decided to quit, its hard but doable. After a few days he smelled so bad when he smoked that it actually helped me in realizing I made the right choice. And, after 6 months, he followed my lead and is now celebrating 200 days without a cigarette.
Stay close, and ask for help if you need it. This place is amazing!
