All in due time. Start out slow and work yourself up to the level you want to be at. I start watlking about 4 years ago, so that has been my saving grace with my quits. But I start out doing 10 or 15 minutes at a pace that didn't kill me. Then I just kept adding the time and the pace. I am no speed walker, but I get three miles walkes in about four times a week. I smoked for 50+ years. This time I joined a women's 30 minute work-out. I go to that three times a week, plus my walks. The 30 minute work out has saved me from gaining. I also pay attention to what I eat for the most part, but there are days I just have to have my cookies :eg: You will do great!!! Trish, I know my first few days I didn't leave the couch except for food (lots of it) and bathroom. It was my way to deal. For some reason this quit has been my easiest. (hmmmmm it could be the chantix) I feel so good most of the time. I have my moments. I could be posting two minutes from now that I need HELP!! I hope not. I am going to my first out of town trip Thursday. Just for the weekend. I hope it goes well. We'll see how the eating and exercise goes then. Ha Ha. Angelcapp, I know what you mean about not being able to breathe. My boyfriend has asthma. Some days I would take a breath and it I would sound worse than him. So many things contributed to me deciding to quit. I feel better now, glad I quit too! Cindy, The first few days I just ate whatever I wanted to distract myself from smoking. I am back to eating healthy now. I figure, if I can quit smoking, I can do anything, right? Thanks for replying! Hi Trish Congratulations on your quit. That is the same reason i quit, I could not breath anymore. I did not have a medical condition, it was just that I smoked for so long that it took my breath away to do anything. Now I can jog and work out and I feel so much better! So glad I quit!!!!! Hey Trish. 11 days is great. I read that if you change nothing when you quit smoking you will still gain an average of 6 pounds. I gained two my first week. Then I replaced my obsession with smoking to an obsession with eating right and exercise. I lost the two I gained plus one. I am still a newbie, so I am no pro. I hope I can keep this up. I love the eating right and exercise in addition to the quitting because I feel so healthy!!!!! Any way good luck to us all. So I quit smoking 11 days ago and I have gained 6 pounds already. I have been drinking alot of water so some of it may be water weight. Anyways..... I went jogging on the treadmill today and it felt like I was inhaling hot knives! I could only last for 2 minutes on the damn thing. I work out pretty regularly, but I usually do the stationary bike or something low impact. I asm guessing that is pretty normal after 13 years of smoking like a chimney... My grandma could have lasted longer than me! :) Just one more reason not so smoke!!!!!!
