times of trouble trigger the demon

Hi blue cloud, 1st I'd like to say that I think I run a close 2nd if not tied with Ms Lady, lol. Identifying a problem is the 1st step, so good 4u :) I'd like to suggest that you make a plan or some plans for this coming Sunday. Maybe do something that you don't do often that won't set off any triggers. Maybe go to the movie theater and watch movies all day and eat popcorn or whatever, just a suggestion. Keep on keepin on :) Just breathe....... Blue Cloud, Sunday's were always the most difficult for me too. I don't know why. Doesn't make sense. But it does pass. I would spend most Sunday's in the pity pott, in tears, and posting on these boards. Don't worry about being a whinner! I have the title of #1 whinner on the boards. It would be hard to top all the crying I've done here. You are doing great. You get through each day the best you can. If it means crying, that is what you do. Keep going. It's Monday so it is better. Today is Sunday I have dreaded Sunday's since I started this quit. It just seemed like all I wanted to do was cry on Sunday. Thanks to all the good advice I have been given, in this post and others, I am finding myself in a better place today. I know you guys think I am a whinner, and I have been, but I am so much better. The bad times are when I run to post. That is when I need your help the most. I am getting stronger and I am feeling much better. I know as I get more confident in my quit I will be able to handle the other problems in my life. Thanks for your compassion, your kindness and your steadfast support. Most of all thanks for your advise. I love todays quote~~If you think you can, you right If you think you can't your right. I think I can. TODAY I WILL Love you All BLUE CLOUD My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 500 Amount Saved: $100.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 9 Mins: 9 Seconds: 9

blue cloud Sadly, that which you are experiencing is an outgrowth of addiction and has bedeviled many people along the path. I am one of those who has used smoking as an emotional shield for years. In the early days of my quit, I had to fight like crazy to keep from smoking every time "the other shoe fell"...And it sounds to me like there are a number of shoes falling in your life at this moment. I am sorry for that, but I will tell you one thing, a cigarette will never ever keep any of those shoes from falling. What smoking will do is tell you the lie that nicotine eases your anxiety...Nicotine does nothing more than create the illusion that you feel better about your circumstances. It does this by raising the level and uptake of various neurotransmitters in the brain. This is what is "making you feel better"...What nicotine won't tell you is that you can achieve this same emotional state of being through exercise, diet and deep breathing. Nicotine is in effect a short cut to this state. However, as in all phases of the economy, we pay for convenience (short cuts) and nicotine extracts a heavy, heavy price. I can hear in your post that you are having a very difficult time, and for that I am truly sorry. However, if you stay true to this course, develop coping mechanisms and break free of the addicition for good, the struggle will be worth its weight a thousand times over...Look forward and keep striding one step at a time, one crisis at a time and 1 thought at a time, until you have broken this thing down...I know that you can do this... Stay strong and quit nonic I too am an "emotive smoker", however, I have chosen these other ways My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 216 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,480 Amount Saved: $1,512.00 Life Gained: Days: 39 Hrs: 10 Mins: 55 Seconds: 18

Hey Blue Cloud, in times of trouble, the first thing we grabbed was a cigarette and it numbed the emotion we were feeling.I was the wosrt one for going for the smoke first. Take deep breaths and remind yourself that a smoke (in times of trouble) won't make it better, and you need to feel the emotion that is knocking. (Fear, Anger, Hate, Worry) Whatever it is, feel it and let it go. That's something most us smokers did not learn if we started smoking as teens, we were too busy smoking, and covering up those emotions. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 146 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,650 Amount Saved: $1,540.30 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 20 Mins: 34 Seconds: 54

Hi Blue Cloud, In the beginning of our quits or I should say my quit every little thing that went wrong was a trigger for me. My life is like yours not very serene most of the time and so many times I just wanted to sit down and light up. I used to talk to myself and ask if this smoke will help the answer of course is no. I see you like to garden and so do I and when things get really tough I head outside and work in the dirt. You will succeed I know you will just hang in there with us. Hi Blue Cloud, One day at a time is how this quitting works. Your quit is still young and you're in a very sensitive space. Each day without smoking will make you stronger and feel more positive. I noticed that you list your occupation as a caregiver; how much of yourself are you giving away? Maybe a nice reward for 23 smoke free days would be in order? Sometimes we simply have to do something nice for ourselves and to heck with every one else for a bit. You're doing well, keep it going! Take care. think that when we smoke , we just have a smoke even when we arent having problems, we smoke even when were happy, or just because weve just had a good meal etc. Smoking is not going to make a problem worse, its going to to giving in to a need we have and the addiction is being fed thats the only thing that gets changed. the problem is still there with or without the smoke, i wish i had a better way to explaine this but just dont know how, hnaf in there dont loose the quit. it will solve nothing tresa My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1815 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 36,300 Amount Saved: $6,352.50 Life Gained: Days: 255 Hrs: 20 Mins: 51 Seconds: 47
