MK, time to move on now, look forward, not back, and focus on your tomorrows okay. Deep cleansing breaths, lots of water, and enjoy and savor the rest of your vacation, you are in places we dream of visiting!!! See it all so you can share it with us. One hour, one day, just do what you can, and know we are here for you. a demain ;P Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 750 Amount Saved: $131.25 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 4 Mins: 46 Seconds: 29

It's got tentacles? Lucky for you you're in Italy, just hack them right off and make some calamari! Mamakitty, you said "I hope I learn something amazing this time. I wish I could just wake up a non-smoker for the rest of my life." You will and you can. Now promise you'll chuck out the pack in the pants drawer. Tobacco makes crap potpourri! ;p Hang in there. You've got quite a fan club here. x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 197 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,531 Amount Saved: 1,083.50 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 10 Mins: 46 Seconds: 53

Mamkitty, Sorry to hear this happened, I've been there before too! I think we all have. The disappointment! Shake it and enjoy your vacation with your family. I will be sending good quit thoughts your way. You will do it or else you would have just disappeared from the site. Have a great rest of your trip and don't let this ruin it. Mamakitty I'm sad for you, too. But, as everyone has said, forgive yourself and go on. I love what your daughter said, although I think it will get a rise out of Phil ;p (the old quit vs stop thing). I know you want to be an exsmoker, so do what it takes. Is there anything you can do to make yourself feel more comfortable for the rest of the trip? oh shoots, have to work. I'll write more later -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 117 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,680 Amount Saved: $795.60 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 9 Mins: 31 Seconds: 48

MaMaKitty, My heart breaks for you! Please don't waste your vacation beating yourself up, that'll only be more miserable for you and your family. We are what we are and that's neither schmuck nor liars. We are addicts that are really trying to break free from our addictions. I've just quit again after blowing an 8 month quit, so I do understand where you are coming from. And yes, it does feel like our addiction has tentacles that will never let us go for good. That is why we must turn our backs on it, walk away and never look back. That includes lying to ourselves that we can have "just one." Because one is too many and one thousand would never be enough. I received this advice from a long time, well respected quitter here on the SSC. And I've been an slave to this habit long enough to know that she is spot on! There is only one true way to make this forever....quit. Hang in there and put a smile on your face! Enjoy the beauty that surrounds you! You are not a liar or a schmuck or anything else like that! You are a wonderful compassionate person battling a nasty addiction. Just like the rest of us! I'm sending strength your way! Prayers! Debbie :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 120 Amount Saved: $22.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 40 Seconds: 19

Geez, I feel so bad for you I hardly know what to say. What you are going through is a huge fear for many people quitting and here you are having to face it head on. I have failed at quitting so many times I have lost count. What I do remember is the defeat and disappointment I felt in myself when I caved. The excuses I made to myself and my family, and hiding it all behind another smoke. If I could go back to those moments I would first forgive myself and realize it was just a mistake but not a defeat. You always can get back to your quit if you do not let it get the best of you. Thank you Anna. I'm glad to hear about the pit peaks. Makes me feel less crazy. I'll think positive and do what I need to do. mamakitty, you sound so sad. Don't be sad, you're in Paris, City of Light!! I read your post last night but you didn't ask for anything so I minded my own business but I have been thinking about you all day. It's clear how disappointed you are to have let your family down but Anna is right, you can't beat yourself up, it won't do any good for anyone. The only thing you can decide is whether & when you want to get back on. You know the only way to get that freedom you want is to not smoke. If there are smokes in your undie drawer, you have to decide what you're going to do about that. I hope you'll throw them out & get right back up here with us, you know we all have our hands out. But if you can't or don't want to right now, we'll still be here when you do. Sending you big hugs & strength & keeping you in my thoughts.
