Hi joyful, you got it in one. I got the idea from my staying stopped CD which says 'you may not be relaxed right now, just pretend that you are relaxed as it is almost as good as the real thing'. I crossed this idea with a computer game called Animal Crossing, where they have 'Yay Day' one saturday in three, basically all the computer characters are really happy and compliment on that day. And from there I came up with the concept to try it at least once a week in real life. In honour of Phil, I'll be trying the next yay day on Tuesday (thanks for the idea Nance). Anyone can try it. No tough love, just happy words of encouragement, like Josie does here from the mod side. Aloha, the chocolates went down well. My quit buddy was not having a good day, so they took her mind off cigarettes. Plus they seem to have a chemical 'happy' effect on girls for some reason, not sure if it works the same on boys. Now there is an experiment :) Right new week so I will start a new thread. Okay Kevin, YAY days it is! How about every Tuesday, in Phil's honor! Tuesday can be your YAY day! If one isn't enough, schedule a second one. I think consistency may be the key here...if you know it's coming then it is something to look forward to. Put it on your calendar. In advance. IN INK! Your "quit jealousy" should be fading. You have found a way to turn even that into a positive thing...it's helping you to stay quit, right? I think the word "jealousy" has somewhat of a negative connotation that doesn't fit your new image. Find a positive phrase to replace "quit jealousy". The sleeping thing...I don't have problems sleeping and never have, so I can't help you with that one. I am sure your doctor should be able to help with suggestions, or meds, if necessary. Use every relaxation technique that you know of, and start a different thread here asking for suggestions. You know you will get some. I see such a big change in you in the last two weeks! Your attitude has changed, your outlook has changed, you are channeling your energy in a positive direction, you are making a daily promise not to smoke, you are identifying coping strategies in advance.. Puddle jumping it is! My workplace has lots of leaks! :) On the quit jealousy thing, I may just give it time and hope it sorts itself out. After deeply analysing it for a while I came up with this analogy : You sit down at the table at a posh restaurant with some close friends, theres posh silverware all over the place. The waiter comes out with some breadcrumb coated chicken breasts for each of you. Everybody on the table picks up a knife and fork and daintily picks away at it. You really want to pick it up by your fingers and chomp on it, but you don't want to appear like a neanderthal, especially in front of your friends. For instance, maybe I am waiting for Lynda (my quit buddy) to slip before I can smoke. I knew there was a reason why I am now glad she doesn't tell me how I am doing! :) Nance has a lot more faith in me than I do reference not smoking in that instance. Hence the time factor is important. I'll just let it slide for the time being. It may not even be a event I have to worry about. Thats what I am telling myself anyway. I think I've seen other people resent others who have easier quits..i know ive seen people resent people who are smoking.
