I am new and ready for a change

Hey Cat, You are doing great already. It seems you have made some real positive changes in your life already and this is a great start. My first day did not seem too bad because I was so excitied to quit. The few days after that though my resolve wore a little thin. It helps to stay very busy, drink lots of water and the candy helps. After the first few days I started to keep a running list of all the things I could do without thinking about smoking. My list gets longer each day and if I have a hard moment I pick one of those activities to do. It's different for everyone but easy things are like going to the mall or movie theatre because you never could smoke there before. It does get easier. Hang in there.

Hi everyone! Iam new.My doctor told me about this place. I will tell you a bit about myself and why I want to stop smoking. iam 25 and just got my g.e.d and after the graduation ceramony I decided my life needed even more changes.i decided to try college to better my art skills,so hopefully I will be attending school soon.also I decided to stop smoking agian. About two years ago I stoped for almost two months due to having my wisdom teeth removed and I was unable to smoke.I made the mistake of asking mom for a puff and then it just went down from there. I know Iam going to have one heck of a time trying to stop, triggers, and things like that.I have a few mental dissorders that will make it harder to stop,i get panic attacks and nervouse very easily and that is one of the times I could smoke a whole pack at once. I was reading some things on the site and yes I smoke as soon as i get up in the morning, when i have my coffee, after a meal, well I smoke all the time and I go threw a pack or more a day sometimes 4 a day. I want to stop for my health,I have seen friends and family lose there lives from the effects of smoking,i have been watching my grandma's health suffer from smoking for so long(thank God she is trying to stop now as well).I also want to stop because I want things like my clothes and home to smell better and Iam getting ready to redo my home with new paint and wall paper and dont want things to be yellow, sticky, and smelly any more. Today is my first day to actualy get down and get seriouse about stopping for good this time.My first step was to get on here and read everything i can and post in here to get support, and to ready myself for tomarrow. tomarrow i am going to use my nictonine patches and chew speramint gum(I smoke menthol so i thought something minty would help)and keep my mind busy by deep cleaning my house.the next day who knows I want to take it day by day. :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: -1,300 Amount Saved: $-422.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: -150301
