Hi Jennifer, I am sorry you are feeling so bad. I can totally sympathize right now. It will all be worth it in the end, I am sure. Your kids will be happy when you are around to see their kids. Don't give up! Shutterbug, I think you did great yesterday. You may have slipped but you are back and that is what is most important, to not give up. I hardly feel like an inspiration. I am lucky that I have two teenage stepsons, three daughters and a husband who all are non smokers and would probably hog tie me if I tried to run to circle k for a pack. Sometimes I know it is not my own will power and I could easily make a mistake. I also know I have gone through some crazy moments and have many more ahead. One thing I have learned is that smoking does not fix anything, but I also know that I can say that right now in a rational state of mind. If I am upset or stressed and not rational, anything makes sense and reverting back to an old conforting habit seems to make the most sense of all, even if it means it might kill me. It is an easy pattern to fall into. Thank you for your kind words but you should be proud of yourself too. Hang in there. Be proud of yourself Jeni, you didn't cave! I did! I'm trying not to beat myself up. But it seems my path really is easier than yours. Your right, no fairy came out and fixed my husbands injured hand, that was my trigger yesterday. He'll be fine, his has stitches in two fingers and his hand is all wrapped, but, he still has his sense of humor. It's like they say, "you think you have troubles, until you hear about someone else's" You seem to be in a tougher place than I, but, you will prevail! Well, here's to you for hanging tough. Applaud yourself, you deserve it! I'm going to do the same thing, you are my example. Thanks My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/10/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 180 Amount Saved: $36.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 5 Mins: 42 Seconds: 9

Jeniwho, Wow! That's a tough trigger so be very proud of yourself for getting through it. I also must congratulate you on 21 days smoke free! That's three whole weeks! Keep up the great effort! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Mercy, Thanks for asking...I am hanging in there. Today was tough because I had to go to an appointment to determine my fitness as a parent (BS from my ex husband) major stressful moment though and one I had been dreading. About half way through the interview i looked at the guy and said "sorry if I am rambling I recently quit smoking" I thought honesty is the best policy and what can he do? Fault me for being healthier for myself and my kids. As with everything else I made it through that. I have gone through such a range of emotions from temper tantrums, crying spells, trying to pick fights with people so I have an excuse to cave and I finally started to laugh at myself. Last night I started wondering why I thought smoking would solve my problems, like if I light up a magic fairy will come out of my cigarette and fix it...the image made me laugh. So all in all I guess I am doing okay (and rambling again) Thanks! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 21 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 420 Amount Saved: $115.50 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 17 Mins: 9 Seconds: 7

Hey Jeni, Glad you're here. you know, you are adicted to the single most adictive substance available to man. You're not going to feel better and be over it after 15 days. For other drugs, they have all these programs to help you quit, and they have special places you go to get clean, and they have centers and speed detoxes and all sorts of things, but they hang smokers out there to flop in the wind. So, honestly honey, don't get down on yourself. Guilt will only cause you to fail.. nothing good comes from it. After a year I have told my husband that he is really something special for putting up with me for the last year and not leaving or loving me less.... ... and then I called him a rotten SOB for forgetting my one year aniversary! :) Boy, do I ever know how you feel. *hugs* My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 366 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 27,450 Amount Saved: $6,862.50 Life Gained: Days: 31 Hrs: 21 Mins: 43 Seconds: 35

There ya go! I didn't empty our ashtrays. I went out there with a trash bag and threw them out together, ashtray, buts, ashes and all. Yuk! At my work I park at the same place ever day. There has been one of my cigi buts on the ground right where I would get in the drivers door. I looked at it every day as I got in and out of my car. Every day it was more and more frayed, just like my addiction.
