Hi Bresmama. I can relate to every word you are saying. Also a Chantix quitter. It does get easier. But right now, I have 2 suggestions for you. 1) Expect to be tired and pamper yourself as much as you can - your body is going through a major adjustment and it will pass. I think I napped/rested as much as I could the first few weeks. 2) Channel that anger you feel into determination to break free. When the thought to smoke hits you, remind yourself that you don't need it and it's all a big lie. Acknowledge the thought and then move on. Tell it get lost, hit the road, buzz off.... By know, courtesy of the Chantix, most of the nicotine is out of your system. So from here on it is mostly a mind game. Do whatever it takes to get in control. ok, I have a 3rd one, too. Day two was my horror day too... no other day was as hard. I couldn't work, I couldn't focus, I cried, I dreamed of smoking... a big "blech" to day 2. The good news was that the next day was better and then every day after has been better! No day has been as hard as day 2... So, you've finished with the worst of it!! There is no such thing as posting too much & you're crying because you have to cry. Your 2 year old is not going to remember that you cried today but he/she will remember you smoking through his/her growing up years even though he/she begged you to stop & will absolutely remember if you die of some horrible smoking-related disease. You are in withdrawal, bresmama & it sucks no matter what aid you are using. It does get better, it does get easier & you will have such a sense of accomplishment & strength once you are through those first few days. Be good to yourself, listen to your body & not the junkie that lives in your head. Hold your baby, hold your quit & know that you can do it. We are all doing it with you, we are holding you up & you will not fall. I called the Chantix cravings hotline earlier. What an incredible waste of time. Seriously, the only thing that the guy kept telling me to do was to eat celery and carrot sticks. Its like seriously, I just told you that I have been sitting on my bathroom floor crying 'the ugly cry' for about an hour...its gone WAY past vegetables buddy! I can't stop crying and I feel so depressed! I can't believe that cigarettes have this much control over me! My 2 year old walked into the bathroom and started crying with me. It made me feel terrible that I made him sad (I am NEVER EVER like this...I can't remember the last time that I cried before today!). I have to get ahold of myself. How much longer will I feel like this? Smoking never made me sad before..I keep wondering if its worth it?!!! p.s...I'm sorry if I'm posting too much... Bresmama, You have gotten some really good advice here. Take each day as it comes and not matter what always remember NOPE (not one puff ever). As long as you don't smoke, you are going to be fine. Remember what you are going through is just temporary and will pass shortly. It takes some time for our emotions to adjust to the missing cigarette but it is doeable! Bresmama, Yes it is unfortunately. Nicotine triggered the release of neurotransmitters in your brain responsible for good mood. Now that you've quit you're likely to experience a deficit of sorts. Wow. Day 2 was absolute hell. Today I worked from 9-5 and wow..I thought the day would never end. I can't really describe it but today just felt really really sad. All day I fought the urge to cry even though nothing was really wrong. (Which is quite an occupational hazard given that I'm a rape crisis counselor!) Is this normal...to just feel overwhelming sadness and despair for no apparent reason? congratulations bresmama! were all fortunate to be able to quit, obviously were stronger than the drug that drove us to it. day 3 is almost over for me, once the first week is over, it will get easier. ive quit for 8 months before, but the pressure got the best of me, and i gave in. this time is different, i know im going to quit, im going to make it thru the hardest days, and i will never want/need another cig as long as i live. best of all we wont have stinky clothes and discolored fingers!

yes, is normal to be tired. Day 2 will be much easier than what you went though today. Try and sleep really late into tomorrow morning if possible. Drink a plenty of fluid, try and stay away from coffee and alcohol. Eat Fruit.
