Hi Kev! You are going to be an inspiration to so many. Did your research tell you that most people are not successful on their first attempt, and some take as many as six tries to quit? I think you have quit for good now, and if a little friendly competition is what it takes to get you over the hump, then I say go for it, and I know you will do it! Don't stop now, the best is yet to come! Hey Aloha, Chilled water is an under rated tool I think. They may have to call me H2O Kev instead of JDK Kev :) Hows life in that nice sunny climate? My quit buddy has gone cold turkey too! We're going through it together. We compete like crazy on the non-smoking thing. A bit like 'I feel like crud but there is no way I am going to let her beat me' and visa versa. It spurs both of us on to a smokefree life. So what I am doing now? Well I am breathing 12 deep breaths on the hour every hour. It works a treat. Who'd have thought a bit of competition would heighten my determination so I could never go back to smoking? Wow, so many posts! So I did decide to experience heck week for the first time instead of redoing hell week for the nth time :) This week is going to be very hectic and stressful work wise, so brought in 'Stop Smoking in one hour' for inspiration as chapter 2 is full of helpful info for staying stopped. Especially practicing the whole deep breathing thing. I've had exactly the same intensity of craving with the patch as I did with cold turkey, so decided that cold turkey was the way to go. Obviously i've kept them close by just in case I change my mind. Tonights reward is that I get to use the watercooler for the first time tonight. Having spent hours setting it in the early hours of this morning. I never thought that something that dispenses water could be so complicated! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 200 Amount Saved: 33.60 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 0 Mins: 24 Seconds: 30

Atta boy, Kev! I haven't been posting much lately because of house guest and some minor surgery, but I've been watching and sending you encouraging vibes. I know you don't believe in that airy fairy stuff much, but I'm doing it anyway ;p Very proud of you!!!!! Now, what strategies do you have in place for Monday? I think it was Danielle who suggested a workplace reward basket. Have a bunch of litle rewards there to replace the yucky nicosticks, e.g., candies, gum, crosswords, word finds, flavored toothpicks, lol..just thought of those bubble gum cigars..do they still have those?, maybe tiny drumsticks?..lol...well, you get the picture -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 108 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,320 Amount Saved: $734.40 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 3 Mins: 39 Seconds: 53
