That was a great sharing Lolly. It gives me hope for the future. We just went smoke free in ALL public places, (even bars). there was an initiative on the ballot that we could vote for that made it possible for each individual bar owner to decide if they would allow smoking in their place of business or not. Well, the voters have spoken. The outcome of the vote was NO smoking in public places, not even bars. I really believed that when it came to the neighborhood bars, it should have been up to the owners. If people do not want to go to a bar because there is smoking, there would be other bars where there was no smoking. The privately owned bars with no room for a patio for smokers can suffer financially. If i was a private business owner, I would want the freedom to decide on such as issue myself, without the government getting involved. I was surprised when the '"no smoking anywhere" initiative passed...I thought the "freedom of choice for bar owners" would pass (no smoking anywhere else). But, wow, as I said, the people have spoken. The majority of people do not want to be anywhere where smoking is going on. I do not go to bars very much, but the first time i went to my neighborhood bar and there was no smoking!, I was like "wow, this is nice" no waving my hand in front of my face or watery eyes. It is an heated topic, but I think private business owners should have the right to decide this issue for themselves.
