colbert nation, just wondering how your doing? Remember you are learning how to live a smoke free life...take it one day at a time! You made the first step by quitting now just take baby steps if need be. Take deep breathes and remind yourself why you quit. Ya know what, I just tell myself I don't smoke. I remind myself that I wasn't always a smoker and I can be a non smoker for the rest of my life. Colbert, Welcome to our support community! You have found an amazing place for support and knowledge. The members have lots of great advice, so take what you need and make a plan. Congrats on 4 weeks and make sure you reward yourself for a job well done! Smoking that pack will not make anything go away, so start getting occupied with activities, chores, renovations and even hobbies. You have all this new time on your hands, so use it wisely. We are always here to assist :) Josie, Support Specialist

You have to have as much of a determination to not light up as you had to light up. Pure determination is what it is. It's not easy but it can be done. Yes do throw them away. That is what I had to do to finallly give it a serious stab at becoming smoke-free. After awhile you may ask yourself "Why did I ever start to begin with"!! DO NOT have cigarettes around you, Colbert Nation. You are a non-smoker and non-smokers don't have cigarettes around. I don't believe a cigarette ever solved a marriage problem & neither do you, not really. You've done great so far, don't allow the junkie that lives in your head any more reasons to sabotage you. He will think of enough on his own. Please get rid of those things and carry on with your wonderful quit. Colbert Nation, Welcome to the SSC and congrats on over 4 weeks! Please take the time to work through the online quit program. It will help you plan out strategies to deal with cravings and other triggers such as stress. You are still fairly early in your quit so it is not uncommon to still be craving pretty frequently. This will pass with time and again, the strategies you learn in the program and through reading the forums should help. As for the cigarettes you found, it may be best to toss them in the trash. One puff could lead you back to your old habit. As we say around here, NOPE (Not one puff ever) is the way to go! Keep us posted. Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

ok Colbert nation...first off...i think we are pretty much at the same place. I started off on Chantix also. I stopped using it at day 8. I didn't want to deal with the side affects either. So now I am also doing it cold turkey (gobble gobble). I sm STILL getting pretty bad cravings too. I swear there are days that if i still had smokes in the house I would grab them. I did have two full packs smokes on top of my fridge for at least 3 weeks. Remember that you are not alone. There is a workbook to the left. Also, there is an im that you can use. That's pretty nice for when you need to talk to someone...keep in touch and let us know how you are. REMEMBER the reasons why you choose to quit! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/24/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 800 Amount Saved: $180.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 7 Mins: 21 Seconds: 59

Colbert Nation, I know that temptation!!! Throw those filthy smokes away, you don't need them. Just try to focus on how you would feel after smoking one, aweful. I know because I have found myself in that spot too many times. All the willpower that you have mustered up in the past four weeks will have been for nada if you smoke...just don't do it, it's not worth it. The big thing with quitting is distracting yourself for long enough to just get through this very temporary crave...it will pass...whether you smoke or not...remember that. good luck. let me know how its going. kat My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 80 Amount Saved: $20.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 29 Seconds: 0
