Why I am Stoping

16 years ago 0 7 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
No - It's psoriasis on the soles of the feet and palms of the hands. Normaly it takes a skin cell 30 days to go from the bottom of the epidermis to the top and slough off, but in people with psoriasis it takes three days. When it is realy bad the skin will split and bleed - so much fun! You are right - it certanly can't hurt to stop. Tim My Man I have a mild form of psoriasis had it for years.I know nothing about the palmo planter type but I do know something about smoking because I,ve done it for 50 + years. I understand your concern about returning to smoking again if you get no relief from the psoriasis now that you,ve quit it must be very painful and I,m sure smoking gives you some relief. But and here comes the ugly part Tim !! by smoking you are exposing yourself to countless other medical problems that will make the psoriasis seem like small potatoes !! I did,nt here anything about a doctor mentioned here have you sought medical attention ??? HI, Tim, welcome. I have never heard of that condition before but whatever it is, stopping smoking can't hurt it!! Is it anything like Buerger's disease? I know someone who has that. Hi my name is Tim I live in NYC I have smoked a pack a day for the last 22 years, and I am stoping because I have Palmo Plantar Psoriasis which is strongly connected to smoking, (99.8% of all people with palmo plantar psoriasis are smokers). The condition has been so bad that in January I could not walk for two weeks. I figured that if stoping smoking will help my skin then I have nothing to lose. In some ways this makes it easier to stop, but in others it makes no difference. I stopped on Tuesday and I'm doing ok, (very cranky and stressed). All I have to do is take a look at my ravaged feet to remind myself why I am putting myself through this. I am somewhat fearfull that if stoping does not help my medical problem, I will turn to smoking again. Anyway thanks for the support I have recieved thus far, and in advance for all the support I know I will need down the road. If any of you have this condition I would be interested in knowing if stoping helped. Thanks, Tim My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 40 Amount Saved: $13.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 8 Mins: 55 Seconds: 50
