Hi DavisCup. I didn't tell my husband when I quit and it took him five days to notice! Then he felt bad for not noticing! Maybe you will inspire your Mum! Oh well, you have come to the right place! Read read read, there is so much help here. You can do this! If you are on day 5, was it? Than you are already through the worst! Keep up the deep breaths, I found a straw helped me.(Whatever works.) Stay close, and stay positive, there is always someone here to answer if you need help! Welcome and post lots! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,875 Amount Saved: $791.25 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 6 Mins: 28 Seconds: 25

daviscup, Congratulations on 5 days and welcome to the site! If you want to quit and stay quit, then you will! Your desire to stay quit must be greater than your desire to smoke... and it sounds like it is! As for telling people, I personally recommend that you tell as many people as you can! It's an accountability thing... if so many people are counting on you to stay quit, then how can you possibly let them and yourself down? But if you don't tell anybody, it sounds like you're planning on failing. Just my observation... I could be way off. But if you're quitting for life, then what is stopping you from telling your mom that you've quit? Just my advice. Congratulations again and welcome! I'm sure you'll love the support here! Crave the Quit! Hello to one an all, I'm now on day 5, using Champix and whether it is helping I'm not sure but perhaps it is. This is the 3rd attempt at giving up the blasted weed and only the 2nd time I've gone past 2 days. Suppose I'm giving myself a little pat on the back here really, having smoked for almost 20years and usually on 20+ a day. All my work mates now know I've given up, they found out yesterday after I snapped their heads off and had to apologise. All bar one are non smokers (2 have smoked and given up some time ago) and all are really supportive. Haven't told my Mum, who lives with me and smokes. I want to be 1-2 weeks in as a non-smoker before I let on, unless she realises before that; so that I can then really encourage her to give up. If I'm honest it is pretty damn tempting at time, having her fag packets around the house, but I am resisting it and also have found that today after she'd blooming well lit up and had a fag in the bathroom I had to follow her and the smoke smell was awful. Made me wash down my room again, the walls and cupboards - smells lovely now. Also found that today when driving, which is when I usually love a cigarette especially on the motorway, I didn't really feel like I wanted one through the whole journey. Deep breathing I am finding really useful when times are difficult, and to breathe in a bit of menthol (via a Vicks Inhaler) really clears the 'tubes' and helps the head shake of its' dizziness. Told you I am feeling really good about it this time - I KNOW I CAN DO THIS THIS TIME. I know I'm only 5 days but I really want to this time. And this site seems real good too - all the postings are real useful -aand nice to know what I am feeling is normal.
