Hello to one an all,
I'm now on day 5, using Champix and whether it is helping I'm not sure but perhaps it is. This is the 3rd attempt at giving up the blasted weed and only the 2nd time I've gone past 2 days. Suppose I'm giving myself a little pat on the back here really, having smoked for almost 20years and usually on 20+ a day.
All my work mates now know I've given up, they found out yesterday after I snapped their heads off and had to apologise. All bar one are non smokers (2 have smoked and given up some time ago) and all are really supportive. Haven't told my Mum, who lives with me and smokes. I want to be 1-2 weeks in as a non-smoker before I let on, unless she realises before that; so that I can then really encourage her to give up. If I'm honest it is pretty damn tempting at time, having her fag packets around the house, but I am resisting it and also have found that today after she'd blooming well lit up and had a fag in the bathroom I had to follow her and the smoke smell was awful. Made me wash down my room again, the walls and cupboards - smells lovely now. Also found that today when driving, which is when I usually love a cigarette especially on the motorway, I didn't really feel like I wanted one through the whole journey.
Deep breathing I am finding really useful when times are difficult, and to breathe in a bit of menthol (via a Vicks Inhaler) really clears the 'tubes' and helps the head shake of its' dizziness. Told you I am feeling really good about it this time - I KNOW I CAN DO THIS THIS TIME. I know I'm only 5 days but I really want to this time.
And this site seems real good too - all the postings are real useful -aand nice to know what I am feeling is normal.
