Hi Aloha, Nice to see you. Yes I have had quite a few practices at this, each time refining slightly. Partly due to my 'never give up giving up approach' that Pat was referring to. Other things to keep me off the smokes on Sunday (this time more specific) : I'm doing a music tape of the weird a wonderful Kev collection for my New Zealand friend at work so he can listen to it to and from work. I'm also going to do a SSC CD, with songs relating to each personality I have met here. Either with a line that relates, or a general feeling (i.e. dark/mysterious/poppy/happy etc) that relates. Cool idea huh? Hi Lolo, Freemom & Pat, Thanks for your kind words. Ok, what have I done so far? Bought a bucketload of gum. 1 huge container to put them in. 1 smaller container for work. Reward Plan : Last time I was a bit crappy with rewarding myself. Now I have 7 self addressed envelopes that will be given to me every night with some music vouchers in them Triggers : #1 Boredom : Actually I got this one sorted last time around. Boredom at home : Play chess, wordsearches, animal crossing etc, post on SSC. Boredom at work (replace smoke breaks): Go for a cup of tea #2 Pubs : Plan A) Avoid pubs Plan B) Avoid long sessions if possible for at least the first 2 months. Carry a pager that goes off after 1hr 30min as an excuse to leave. #3 Waiting for buses : Stick on ipod, chew like crazy. Theres some more etc but thats the main ones. Kev, I'm so sorry I wasn't here to lend you a hammer when you needed one. You've made me proud to see you go from someone who couldn't get past the first day to someone who has experienced a quit and is determined to go again. I admire your decision to try cold turkey. It doesn't matter how many times you've slipped or how you decide to quit...all that really matters that you have decided to quit. Don't ever quit on quitting my friend. This is one of the very few times in life when quitting is winning. You will have your last quit when your desire to not smoke is stronger than your desire to light up. I believe we get the desire to quit by gaining knowledge....because... Knowledge replaces fear. People without fear can achieve whatever they set out to do because nothing stands in their way. They can't help but to be positive when nothing scares them. You have the knowledge. You can do this. Look at all the people who belive in you and will help if you need us. :) Pat My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 109 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,360 Amount Saved: $1,526.00 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 22 Mins: 16 Seconds: 12

Hi Kev. It's early and I'm confused. Change always throws me. The site seems to be upside down now but it looks much cleaner. Also see that personal details are involved which is good because I've always wondered about the gender of some people posting (I mean that in the nicest possible way, of course). Anyway, glad you are back on track. Counting down with you till Sunday. From one cold turkey to another.
