New Quitters,
See the title of this post? Scroll down.. see my signature? Knowledge is so very, very important in the quitting process.
Know:
Why you are quitting.
How your body is affected by quitting..
Physically.
Emotionally.
What causes craves.
How to combat a crave.
How to deal with smoking friends/family.
How to cope with life without the crutch of a cigarette.
How to deal with negative "help".
How to accept that you are a nicotine addict.
Knowledge. Search the web for cancer prevention sites. They will have tons of info on them. There are many, many places to get the knowledge you need to successfully quit. Just google "quitting smoking".
Quits don't just fall out of the sky. People make them happen. Reread that.. they "make" them happen. All of the veterans on this site didn't get where they are today by just twiddling their thumbs. We all worked at it. We learned. We shared. We thought our way thought this mess that we made for ourselves.
Get the knowledge. Lose the fear. Fear is for the ignorant. You want to be afraid of something?? Be afraid of a chest x-ray that shows a dark spot. Now that is something to fear.
