Really messed up

Jnine, As others have said, the meter is a personal decision that you and only you can make. Personally, I wish I had reset my meter after my first slip... maybe then I wouldn't have had the 2 after that. But anyway, that's just me. I know how hard it is to reset and I know how easy it is to just give up after that, so think about this seriously and do what's right for you. WHat's important now is not your meter, but what you're going to do about your slip. A "slip" isn't really a slip... it isn't accidental. There was something inside you that really wanted you to smoke and somehow convinced you that it was a good idea. What was that? How will you combat that in the future? Figuring that out now will definitely mean the difference between this being a "slip" or being the start to a relapse. Which do you want? Crave the Quit! jnine, The real issue is will your slip be used as a "positive"...or a "negative". We like to use that little critter "nicodemon"....but if he was real....what would he want you to do? He'd like you to feel negative about yourself and give up. This give up thing is...soooooooooooo not right. We even do it with diets. We diet for months and lose weight and throw the whole diet out over one piece of cake!! You probably would have gotten as much smoke in your lungs by breathing in the party goers second hand smoke. If you had just breathed in their smoke would you have considered your quit lost? Tomorrow take some quiet time and re-evaluate your quit. Think of all your positive reasons to stay quit...and think about how creepy you feel about a couple of drags.... and then think about how you will feel if you went back to smoking. It is all a process... and all our processes are different. Make this part of your positive processes. So true... not one puff....ever. We're here for you...always. I agree Jnine. You have to think hard about what triggered those puffs and why you gave in. You have to learn from it and move on from there. As long as you continue on as a non-smoker I don't think you have to reset your meter. Just NOPE! jnine - I don't think the important decision will be what you do with your meter but rather what you do about the slip. It is so easy to have a slip, continue on your quit and then think "Oh that was easy...I slipped and it didn't make a difference" which leads to another slip and so on and so on....Sooooooooo the most important thing to do is to remember to never take another puff again. (And don't beat yourself up...) Jnine, You arent the first with a little slip, and you won't be the last. Don't let your 106 days 'go up in smoke'. Just get back in the groove. You are a non-smoker now. What do you think you should do about your meter?\ Stay with us.... Jnine, What you do with your meter is entirely up to you. It's your motivational tool so do what will motivate you to keep your quit the most. What contributed to your slip? The presence of smokers? Alcohol? Other? Learn from it and keep going. Yes, you may experience some strong urges as a result of reintroducing nicotine in your system but keep persevering and they will pass. Cigarettes Not Smoked

17 years ago 0 247 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Well I went to a 2 day party this weekend. I have been putting my husband off for so many times I finally went. It is a family thing. Well I took a few puffs of a couple cigs. I am so mad at myself but I don't feel like I am back to smoking again, do I have to set back my meter? I haven't smoked since but I really got the urge. I was really putting it off because I am the only non smoker in the family.
