Jean,
There are many other chemicals in cigarettes besides nicotine that your body IS getting rid of right now and water will still help flush those things out. Plus, water (or any beverage) helps with cravings because of the hand/mouth motion, which is one reason why a lot of quitters tend to eat more when they quit... they want to keep their hands and mouths busy, but water doesn't add any calories, so it's not putting any extra weight on.
Fruit juice is also good when first quitting because our blood/sugar levels tend to drop when we first quit, and that can cause increased cravings, so drinking fruit juices can help keep the blood/sugar levels up, even if you're not diabetic. So anyway, that's just another tip. Congrats on 3 days! Way to go!
Crave the Quit!
Pam
