chantix question

17 years ago 0 848 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I know that when I started taking the Chantix and even now sometimes I'd get very groggy within an hour or so of taking it and need to lie down for a while. That pretty much eases up as your body adjusts to the Chantix. That's part of the reason they start you off slow and build up the dose - to ease the side effects. Cigarettes Not Smoked

I had that for a few days, you may feel a little disconnected with the real world, you may have vivid dreams. I have read many people have this in the first few days. Just pay attention to what your body is telling you, exercise as much as you can, drink lots of water and keep that quit date in mind. You can do it, I have and after several attempts over 35 years I am smoke free and plan on staying that way :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/10/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,113 Amount Saved: $187.2 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 14 Mins: 40 Seconds: 25

I never felt like that, however, I did have some slight nausea for a couple of days. I'm on my 4th day of chantix... this is the first day I've taken 2 pills and I feel strange... sort of like I'm in a fog. Has anyone else felt this way? Did it go away? Welcome Seadust, I have been taking the Chantix for the last 2+ weeks. Unfortunately, I didn't do that much research about the Chantix before I started taking it. I have had a few mild side effects (nausea which now seems better). Lots of people around here use all sorts of methods, so as you said, it is a personal decision. The way I see it is that it must be better than smoking. I've read lots of positive posts about people using Chantix here and how much it has helped them. This is my first quit, so I don't have any experience using methods other than Chantix. Whatever method you choose, there is a lot of support here. I know you can do it. Hi Mrsd: Absolutely, yes.....I was in a foggy/zombie/sleepy state for 11 days when I started Chantix. On the afternoon of the 11th day, I literally felt my energy returning.....and it's been great since that time. Different people seem to have different side effects. Mine have been minimal....with the tiredness at the beginning being the worse. But...rather tired and sleepy than smoking. I highly recommend Chantix. I've been a non-smoker since 2/14/07 and it's been the easiest quit I've ever tried. Have always failed before. I feel wonderful and am so pleased that my 40+ year habit has been gone for almost 2.5 months! I never want to smoke again. Good luck to you and everyone else who is going through - or thinking about going through - the quitting process. :)

Hello everyone (Newbie here), I've decided I can't take it anymore and want to quit smoking already!! I've been searching these boards about Chantix (well, everywhere actually) as my doctor just gave me a prescription for them. I like to be informed about what I put in my body...but I smoke...I know, it makes no sense. I've read alot more negative reviews than positive and am still trying to decide on the patch or just get the prescription filled. I'm a 10 cig a day smoker who's smoked for 30 years come mid April. It's time, for a million reasons, it's time. Ok, and training for a 3 day, 60 mile breast cancer walk in November is a big motivator also. Should I put aside my fear of what might possibly go wrong with the Chantix or just go with the patch? I know the ultimate decision is mine, I'd just like some feedback is all. Ya'll have a ton of great information on this site, I just want to get started already and don't know what's truly holding me back!!!

Iv been on chantix for almost 4 weeks. Iv been smoke free for almost 3 weeks. I felt wierd and spaced out for the first couple of weeks. Part of it is the nicotine withdrawl symtoms. Your having carbon monoxide withdrawl. You will be back to normal soon.I am. All i get now is a stomach ache when I take the pill. I try to take it with food. That seems to really help. Oh I also have a little trouble falling asleep. That is also a side affect of not smoking. Keep taking it.I feel like it really helped me. It wasnt as hard to quit as I thought it was going to be. good luck. MrsD - I had the same thing at the beginning and it did go away. Be sure to take it only after you've eaten, and be sure to drink a gigantic glass of water with it!
