Chantix...Day 1

17 years ago 0 848 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Angela. Another Chantix user here. It will make your initial quit and withdrawal much easier. You still need to work out the psychological stuff - recognizing triggers, how to deal with cravings, etc.. That's where this site comes in - do the workbook stuff this week, read lots of posts (you can even do a search on Chantix to pull up discussions and learn more), and when you need to post for help and support! You can do this. Welcome aboard. Hi Angela, Welcome to the group. I understand your fear of quitting I was the same way. I have been using Chantix for one month now and it does help but it still takes determination to quit. I was scared when my quit date was staring me in the face but figured if I didn't do it now I never would. I just went to work without the cigarettes and it was a tough day but when I left work and realized I hadn't had a smoke it put a smile on my face. Keep reading and posting there are some smart and caring people on this site. Good luck to you I know you can do it I DID ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 508 Amount Saved: $162.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 12 Mins: 58 Seconds: 31

Hi Angela I,m the Bear I Smoked for 50+ years. Fear is normal and you probably have some doubts about quiting regardless of education. Remember smoking has been your companion for 30 years now your going to have to learn a new behaviour. You,re absoluly right this is going to be a tough journey mainly because smoking is an addiction. A lot of people here use Chantix with great success to get them through the tough part. Welcome aboard and the best of luck visit often and read the posts there,s lots of support here. ;) Bear

Hi all! I started my first dose of Chantix today. Does everyone have the "i'm afraid to quit" feeling? What's that all about?? Why am I afraid to quit but not as afraid to die of lung cancer?? I'm an intelligent, college educated person, shouldn't I know better?? Anyway, I've had the pills for days and after huffing and puffing while cleaning yesterday, I decided it was time to crack the pack open and get started. I can't imagine life without smoking. I'm 45 and have been smoking a pack (or so) a day for 30 years. This could be a tough journey! Anyway...wish me luck! You're posts are encouraging!
