I am a Chantix patient

17 years ago 0 706 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hello, I am also a Chantix user. It has really helped me.. you still have to want to quit more than you want to smoke, but it really helps with the withdrawls. I bought a handheld Sudoku game and that is great for when I am craving. Gives me something to do with my hands and something to get my mind off of smoking. Drink lots of water, take a walk, you can do anything you want except smoke. Lolo - You're doing great! And by the way, the obsessing with smoking thoughts thing is totally normal, and will gradually disappear in time. Here are some suggestions: *Chew gum/suck on a candy *Come here and read/post *Call a friend/family member *Do a crossword puzzle, sudoku, word search *listen to some fun music *Do some chores around the house *Take a bath/shower Keep us updated on how you're doing! Cigarettes Not Smoked

Well, I have gone 20 hours now without a smoke....It feels so good. I guess I got to the point where I realized that I was obsessing over having a smoke. I don't want a cancer stick to control my life. I am trying to drink water when I get a thought of getting a smoke. I am also trying to do something else Like shooting hoops~! Or walking up and down my street....Any other suggestions? Lolo - As Freemom said - there are lots of us here using Chantix - and the overall opinion seems to be that it's amazing! I smoked around a pack and a half for about 17+ years. I truly believe that without Chantix and the SSC, I wouldn't be where I am today -- proudly celebrating my 2-month quit! So, a big welcome to you. Read a ton and post a ton here - this will make all of the difference! Hi Lolo. There are many of us here using Chantix. It seems to make it much easier to quit. HOWEVER, in order to maintain that quit you really have to want to quit more than you want to smoke. It still takes effort. You've found a great site for support. Do the workbook to the left, read posts here and don't forget to check in and let us know how you are doing, esp if you need help! Hi Hoppy, right now your medication is still increasing...I took day 8 and it was 1 blue in the morning and one blue in the evening which equaled a total of 2 mg....You need to first of all not beat yourself up... Like the specialist said...If you are concerned contact your doctor....About the smoking issue....Self talk...Come here.....go for a walk...play cards....anything that you would enjoy to get your mind off of it....You can do it...You took the first step now just remember you can take it slowly one foot in front of the other...I am at day 5 and I didn't think I would get this far. Read the boards theres a lot of people who have gone through this and have shared their story and also some great ideas on how to get through the rough times...I know with even on the medicine I still felt totally lost...I was an emtional wreak...Remember what nicotine really is.....please keep in touch...here for ya! O-DAAT one day at a time Oh yeah----Drink lots and lots of water! I never liked it...and now I grab it without even realizing it...Our bodies need it....Even more so now. Plus, I am drinking it whenever if Feel like a need a smoke...maybe you could try starting to take a drink of water instead of taking a smoke....keep in touch Hoppy! Hoppy, It may take some time before your Chantix takes full effect. You can consult your pharmacist or physician for further details but remember, it is only an aid, you'll still have to do some work to get rid of your cravings. Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team

Hey LOLO--I last posted here thur morning Day 3 on Chantix, I just took 2nd pill (day 6) and my emotions are "RAW". like I said earlier the doc told me to continue smoking the first week and I only smoked one pack from last Sat till Thur evening. Then I smoked a whole pack Friday and Saturday. I`m not sure what`s going on upstairs with the tennis match in my head. I spent the whole day today with a long time friend who is a smoker and I helped him empty his pack. This is baffling to me I have absolutely felt no relief or cessation of cravings yet. I saw where you said you were on 2mg Chantix, My dosage is 0.5mg the first 3 days and then 1mg the remainder of the 28 day kit. Do you think mine may be too low cause I really don`t feel any different since starting. Lolo, Many quitters find the smell of smoke repulsive, some don't. Congrats on 5 days. Hell week is almost over, start planning your reward! Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team
