I quit on Jan 9 and I am so proud of myself. I have quit many times before and this is the longest I have gone...I am done forever this time. I decided that I would take one step at a time and didn't worry about the weight that I would gain. I found myself in a bit of a slump because I am bored, empty nesting, and suddenly I stepped on the scale last week and ouch...had I gained weight. I have now joined a weight loss program and I am totally focused on getting the weight off. I don't have time to think about smoking and I am not bored as I am too busy planning what I can eat:)I think that I didn't succeed in the past with quitting smoking because I tried to diet and quit smoking at the same time. This seems to be working better for me. 1 step at a time...smoking gone, weight gone, then I will enjoy the exercise:) Here's to living a long healthy life!

Hi Anna, Thanks for starting this thread. Great way to keep track of everyone. I think there are several of us out there still going strong. I like Freedom Fighters, but whatever the group wants if fine with me. Have a great week everyone. Hi everyone! I am so glad there is a good turnout. Wish more people would stop by. SammiJo - I am electing you to be our secretary. What an impressive list! I like the name you suggested, especially since that means so much to you. Let's give it another day or two then restart the thread in that name. How does that sound. All in favor, say "I." Guess what? I have 70 days today!!! Yippee. :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 70 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,056 Amount Saved: $294 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 12 Mins: 24 Seconds: 38

I am so glad to see more people popping in! My silly husband just stuck his head in the room and I asked him what we should call ourselves. He says "Ex-Puffers." He cracks up at me because I am so excited about this website, parades, the century cruise! Oh well - it entertains me and I DON'T SMOKE! I am sure that Phil will be lurking around. Maybe he will have an idea of a name for us. By the way, thanks for the support Mr. Ed. I vote for you to be our mascot. Glad to see you guys here LouLou and Susie! It does amaze me when I think how long I have gone without smoking, I never thought that I could do it! My husband and I ride bikes in the summer. I am anxious to see how much better I do this year without running out of breath. Of course I always blamed it on the "cheap" bike! We need to think of a name for us - maybe when a few more people show up we can figure this out! Hey, I have almost hit $300! Except I am probably in the hole. Everytime I go shopping I "treat" myself! Noticed a couple of threads for February and March quitters. Wondered if anyone else would like to form a thread to keep track of each other who quit in January. I love to read all posts and especially ones who quit around the same time I did. I also wonder about people who do not post anymore. Where is Jimmy The Mick and Shortcake???? If you are still out there, please let me know. We also need a better name. I know Phil hates the word "quitters." Hi everyone, I would like to vote for "Freedom Fighters" too, but for me there's a special reason why... Freedomforme a.k.a. Marie was one of the first ones to try to bring the January 2007 quitters together, back in January. She was an incredible support to everyone and was always bright and upbeat, like our own personal January cheerleader. She hasn't posted on this board since mid-February (at least my search didn't show anything since then) so I don't know if she's still quit or if she's busy or lurking or what. I think: it'd be very cool if we could 1) keep the 007 that we were originally and 2) add the Freedom Fighters to the name because this IS about freedom, and it HAS been a fight, that's for sure! So here's what I did... I went back and pulled up all the old "007" posts that I could AND I consulted Mr. Ed's list, and pulled together a list of ALL the January 2007 quitters I could find. I mean, if we're gonna be a group, let's be a group - and have a LIST! Here it is: January 007 Freedom Fighters Angieann, 1/1/2007 AuntDeb, 1/1/2007 Formyson 1/1/2007 Gismo, 1/1/2007 Loulou, 1/1/2007 Karen, 1/1/2007 Kim2007, 1/1/2007 Marg, 1/1/2007 Misty, 1/1/2007 NewPapa 007, 1/1/2007 Rai, 1/1/2007 researchwoman, 1/1/2007 Sparky2007, 1/1/2007 stillgotit, 1/1/2007 StuBow, 1/1/2007 Todash, 1/1/2007 TonyfromWarrington, 1/1/2007 Hillary, 1/2/2007 JQ5555, 1/2/2007 bj, 1/3/2007 freedomforme, 1/3/2007 Lily_Gazer, 1/3/2007 slivers, 1/4/2007 Felix, 1/72007 Golfergirl93, 1/7/2007 Stubz, 1/7/2007 Anna, 1/8/2007 Determined, 1/9/2007 PlatinumButterfly, 1/9/2007 penguin, 1/10/2007 Monica58, 1/12/2007 Dayone, 1/13/2007 Jan58, 1/13/2007 jnine, 1/14/2007 daytimemommy, 1/15/2007 Katie, 1/15/2007 JT, 1/15/2007 Audrey, 1/16/2007 Beaglelvr, 1/16/2007 Freedom, 1/16/2007 PARROTLADY, 1/17/2007 PHARAOH13, 1/17/2007 BIBERONKA, 1/19/2007 DJ, 1/23/2007 Rainie, 1/25/2007 MrMagic, 1/26/2007 tryagain, 1/27/2007 Glasgowguy, 1/28/2007 LADYCIGEVICTOR, 1/28/2007 TEXAS_IVY10, 1/28/2007 Carzoo1983, 1/29/2007 Freemom, 1/29/2007 Rose2007, 1/30/2007 susie144, 1/31/2007 StressyBessy, 1/31/2007 Let me know of any changes, additions, or deletions. :p My Milage:

Hello Anna, I am one of those January quitters. I did it on January 01-07. I really like you idea of forming a group. I taught that a while back, someone had come up with the 007. But we can surely come up with something. Here is an idea the 2007 Leaders, since we did it the first month of the year. Let me know of any ideas that you have. Keep up you good work.
