day 2 - still not smoking

I would love to tell you that immediately things will be better. At your point, it is not pecticular true. This is a hard addiction to stop. You must fight. The nicodemon will fight you at every turn for the next few days. You must stay stong and defeat each crave. If you do this, in a couple of days you will find the craves are less and not as powerful. Just remember it will get better. When I was at your state, I just kept wondering when that was going to be. Of couse, I think it has something to do with how long you were an addict. I was an addict for 45 yrs. Hopefully, yours will let up quickly... But you can do this... If I can do it, everyone can. I have no willpower. Just keep telling the devil NO.. There were times when I would yell to myself NO NO NO. Good luck and hang in there. Stay around here for support for everyone has been where you are right now... You are not alone... Congrats to you!! It helps me to remember why I quit and the benefits I have noticed so far. I have more stamina, no coughing, I smell good :), last night I blew out a candle first try - instead of 10th try! Stay here, that helps me immensely, and whatever you do - don't smoke! hang tough - you can do this. sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 94 Amount Saved: $15.75 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 21 Mins: 21 Seconds: 28

Dear wnt2bfree, Great job on not smoking for 3 days! That's awesome! I've had alot of people on here give me the best advice to help kill the cravings. Drink LOTS of water. Try this twizzler trick. Bite off the ends and "smoke" it like a cig. Don't worry about how silly you look, I intend to drive "smoking" a twizzler! :p LOL It really works. Keep fighting and remember that when you're craving a cig, more than likely one of us is too, and if we help eachother, we can get through this. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/7/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 49 Amount Saved: $22 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 28 Seconds: 31

Hang in there wnt2bfree, it so does get better. One day a couple of months from now you will look back and say "I am so glad I quit". The cravings get fewer and fewer, and you start to feel so much better. You can be strong and get through this, we are all here to help you do that. So take a deep breath, tell the demon to take a hike and lets get on with this quit. You are doing great!!!!!!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 70 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,760 Amount Saved: $350 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 10 Mins: 57 Seconds: 24

Thank you all for the words on encouragement, with your help I made it to day 3. I'm still wanting to smoke - even worse than yesterday. I know I won't light up but I am very tempted right now. I'll stay here probably most of the day ;) because I need support from people who know how I feel.. Thank you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes the best you can say do is promise yourself you won't smoke for the next 5 minutes. Just keep at it. Come to SSC and read and post instead. I promise -- it does get better! In fact, 74 days into my quit, I feel great!! You Will Too. Just hang in there. The first week can be awful, but face it -- the alternative is worse.
