Hi, aloha & BFS. Yes, I guess I am trying to lose some weight but trying not to get too obsessed about it. The quit is still more important to me. I actually had to gain some weight a couple of years ago & I should have quit then. I gained what I wanted to but since I quit, it's gotten a little out of hand. I've never been in double digit sizes before & I'm taking it personally that I am now. My next reward at 60 days is going to be a good pair of shoes so I can run again without destroying my old knees & hips. For now, I'm trying to get more walking in, so I'll be ready to start running. I don't overeat, eat junk food or reward myself with food so I think the gain is a combination of age (redistribution) & slower meatabolism from the quit. Glad you guys are starting to see some results, I know you've both been trying to lose a little for awhile. Well everybody, after all of my moaning and complaining, I am finally starting to see a difference... for the better, that is! I've lost 9 lbs, but gained 3 of them back since last Thursday. BUT, it felt really good when I went over to a friend's house who I haven't seen in a while and the first words out of her mouth were "you've lost weight!" That just boosted my motivation to keep losing. I'm basically just eating better and am not sitting on my butt when I get home at night anymore. That seems to be working for me. I don't have a formal exercise plan right now... I just exercise when I want to so it doesn't feel like I "have" to exercise. That seems to be working. Hope everybody else is doing well with their quits AND their weight losses as well! Crave the Quit! Yeah, March Girls! I guess we have to be a little less mellow now, hmm? Have to get moving! How wonderful for you, Lainey! I think once it starts coming off, it keeps going. Update on my deal. Shoulder stopped hurting after 5 days on antiinflammatory. I decided to see the physical therapist anyway. Glad I did. There is some kind of damage - I don't have the range of motion I should. So, am going there 2x a week for a few weeks. He is working the shoulder and showing me some stretches. Lucky he's a surfer so he understands my desire to get back out there. So...... I went bodyboarding yesterday. Felt good. Iced my shoulder before I went to bed, and everything is A-ok. Helped my daughter and son-in-law move on Friday, so did plenty of stair-climbing...lol Yes on the fruits and veggies! I am now able to get some lettuce from my garden, and other things are growing. In the meantime, I went to the small farmer's market we have close by. A friend's 19 yr old daughter arrived yesterday for about a month. So, doing stuff with her will keep me moving. We're going snorkeling today. Just keep moving, everybody, and eating healthy, and we will lose weight just like we quit smoking...one day at a time, and supporting each other -aloha

Kita, I refuse to buy bigger clothes. I guess you could say I had a "wake up" moment when my clothes wouldn't fit. I just can't live like this and be content. Earlier in my quit, I had accepted that weight gain was part of the deal, but this incident made me say "no more". I used food a lot as rewards and now I can still do that, but it needs to be healthy food items. I also feel comfortable with my quit and I don't think eating healthy will jeapordize my quit. I just need to make better choices!! I'm approaching it like quitting....I've just made up my mind that I'm going to do this (eating healthy and exercising). I think being successful at weight loss and healthy living is a mental committment, and the rest just falls in place. It also takes effort and meal planning, such as grocery shopping for veggies and healthy snacks instead of chips, candy, and junk food. Fast food, eating out, and drinking sodas are probably the biggest areas of concern for me. I've had one soda since last Wednesday, and I had fast food once (a breakfast burrito this morning). Thank goodness hubby is very supportive, also! Hi Kita! I guess I had a number in my head and once the scale got there, I knew I HAD to do something. I like to walk so it wasn't hard to get out the door, what was hard was making the time to do it. I walk in the morning, so that means getting up a bit earlier and maybe being on here less in the am. Hey if we can quit smoking we can lose the weight. It's easier in the summer for me, salads aren't so appealing when its -40 in the winter....so I try to keep that in mind. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 111 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,775 Amount Saved: $1,171.05 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 14 Mins: 28 Seconds: 19
