What an inspiration. Find Lou's story in the SSC Hall of Fame August 2004 I am unable to copy the Java Script link and so here it is. [quote] Recipient: Lou Quit Date: March 21, 2003 Lous habit began when she began a personal relationship with a smoker. First, Lou grew accustomed to the small of second-hand smoke. Then, she started smoking the odd cigarette. Smoking was casual, but it was always convenient to have her partners cigarettes handy. Within a few months her morning habit turned from casual to consistent. The alarm clock went off, she propped her pillow, and with her eyes barely open she reached toward the bed table and searched for her own pack. After about six months Lou started to cough. She thought to herself: Id better quit - I'm getting some really bad symptoms. But she ignored her symptoms and continued to smoke. Lou started noticing people who didn't smoke - their skin was clear, they smelled good and they even looked good. She noticed that the smokers, with their coughing, yellow fingers and constant smell of nicotine, didnt seem to look as cool as the smokers in cigarette ads. Her co-workers always told her that she smelled like smoke. At this point Lou started to prepare herself to become an ex-smoker. She realized her goal and began to slowly plan toward her quit. What finally motivated Lou to set her quit date? Everyone at the SSC knows that the most successful quitters are those who plan for their quit. While Lou plotted her quit plan on the SSCs Road to Success she browsed the Support Group to learn tips from other successful quitters. She was fully prepared to quit except for one major Milestone: she still had to set her quit date! Lou quickly found the answer to her hesitation. I met somebody on the site who said in one of my posts: If you can't choose a date, Lou, I'll pick one for you. Unfortunately, that person is not on the site with me today, but I still keep in touch with her. I gladly accepted the date that was picked for me. What were the difficult and easy points, when did Lou see some "light at the end of the tunnel?" Lou tells us: When I first joined the SSC I thought this is it. You can't fail youll be embarrassed if you slip. S
