Hi Phil This is a great thread. Caused some rippling of feathers because no-one here wants to really admit that they would (except one naughty contributor)but that is really fair enough. Why else are we all here! It's too soon for me to be messing with thoughts of what if... but I WAS the one who mentioned in one post that if I was desperate I COULD go to the shop and get some fags. It's just a personal thing. A coping thing. I know you were not being serious and there is nothing worse than people getting on your case for making a ponderous suggestion/question/remark but you did ask. No, I wouldn't! As I have said many times, the bridge has been burnt, and I would never go back to smoking, no matter what! NOPE - Not One Puff Ever! :) When I die, I'd like to die with dignity, as a free person, NOT as a nicotine addict! :) Cheers, nmc

Somehow I'm missing the first post for this thread. I think you're asking if we would smoke if we were diagnosed as terminal? We do know that quitting smoking won't prevent that diagnosis anyway. Having said that - I would smoke again if I could be guarenteed that no kids anywhere would see me ever b/c they do see and by smoking I'm saying that its an OK behavior. Who knows by what ripples my smoking has contributed in any way to kids starting up. So that would mean that not only I would be smoking again, but my smoking would indirectly cause countless others to light up. So my answer to you must be - NO. Actually, I can see your point Phil... However, I had a buddy of mine who was diagnosed with AIDS and because of that, he allowed himself to stop exercising, take up smoking and continue to nourish himself with snacks. The doctors gave him months to live - but - he lived and then found out he was misdiagnosed. Now what? He gave everything up, and returned to his fit form. Sometimes when you think it might be all over, it really isn't. And with that, I do not wish to smoke ever again.
