I didn't stop drinking coffee either, I love my nice hot cream and sugar with a splash of coffee in the mornings! I did stop drinking soda though. Not intentionally, I just always had on with my cigarette. So when I stopped smoking, I had no need to grad that soda. I have recently started drinking it at work just because it is convieniant. I actually lost a few pounds by not drinking soda in the beginning. How da thunk? :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 90 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,356 Amount Saved: $378 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 8 Mins: 48 Seconds: 33

Anna, That's very interesting because I have seen many recomendations for new quitters to cut down on caffine when quitting for several reasons. The first reason is that when we quit, caffine has more of an effect on us than it did before and the other reason is that it tends to cause increased cravings, and the two things that you mentioned, soda and coffee, both of course, have caffine in them. That's very interesting. Personally, I didn't cut back the amount of caffine I was taking in a day and I didn't notice either increased cravings or more jumpiness, but I have seen enough people say that it does affect them to believe that it does have an effect. Good post! Glad you posted this information! Crave the Quit! Hey everyone - My local news reported last night that certain foods make cigarettes taste better or worse. Among the foods that made cigs taste worse were fruit, veggies, and milk. Of course the foods that made cigs taste better were coffee and soda. This study was conducted at Duke University if anyone wants to check out more info. This may help people trying to quit by cutting down how many you smoke per day. Try eating more of the stuff that makes the smokes taste yucky! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 89 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,341 Amount Saved: $373.8 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 6 Mins: 31 Seconds: 13
