Kev, I'm glad Phil and Ladycigevictor helped get your thinking back on track! I am too much of a softie sometimes! Tutti has some new words of wisdom too (Tutti, Phil's help was probably via the IM). Love the N.O.P.E. at the end of your post! That sneaky Godzilla has been thwarted again! Hi Gen, I am soooo glad to hear from you! I keep on missing you on IM and I know you are still trying. I think I missed you by seconds last night. I think I know what you're going through. I am starting to feel a bit of that. But I don't call it mourning. Anyways its made my day to hear from you. Positive Kev is back in the building. Pat - thanks for the pep talk. It does wonders. Note my new ending! I never thought I would say this but IM is a very useful function. Now that I know about the search function, I noticed I missed my own 7 day parade, so I am going to join that now. Heya Kevin, Where is Phil's post? I swear, I'm looking and I can't find it anywhere. I'm missing something. :confuse: At any rate, based only on your post, it sounded like you were planning a slip to me and making excuses to smoke. I'm glad WHATEVER "the ole wise one" (Phil) told you has helped you to see the light. ;p You're doing a great job. Just look at those stats!! If you were to start over, it may NOT be so easy. You're in heck week and it's going to get better with each passing day. Oh, if you can't drive to get those patches, then you can't drive to get those smokes either. Instead of riding the bus to buy smokes, ride it to bue the patches. Good idea? ;) I wish I could help you with the gum, mints, etc. too. I had to go cold turkey. Hi there Kev I'm wondering how long you can keep this same thread up and when you will have to move up to the 'New Users etc' category because you are rapidly becoming a seasoned non-smoker. You can't claim to be a newby any more! Very well done. Really pleased you're doing so well. Just read Mike's where he described feeling a bit blah and had been quiet. I am like that too. Still feel kind of in this state of mourning a lot of the time but then really happy when I stop to think that, come tomorrow it will be 3 weeks with no slips at all. I never would have belived it. And all thanks to this site! Could go on here at length in response to your other post about online versus actual because I have had such a ridiculously inefficient and frustrating experience with the NHS that if it wasn't for this site I would never have made it this far. that's for sure. Keep up the good work. Can't advise on gum sorry. Hi Pat, thanks for your post. As you can see I had a brief mental relapse this morning. Sorted out quickly by young Phil, the ever present. Mornings really are not my best time. It takes a few teas and then my 'awakeness' kicks in ready to fight again. I will not smoke and I will not relapse. Thanks for the new improved Godzilla hammer. Kev, Sorry to hear your gums are bothering you. NRT's can be very beneficial, but problematic with each kind having possible side effects. Please read your directions very carefully as nicotine can do some serious damage to your body when used improperly. :8o:
To be honest, i've been very close to relapsing this week. Not due to cravings but due to the fact that my gums are giving me severe aggro from all the nico-mints I have been sucking. It may still happen, it depends how quickly I can get some patches. If I do relapse then it will be a short one.
To be honest, this is bull@h@t. Godzilla wants you to think it's ok to smoke. It is not ok to smoke, this makes it too easy for you to become a full fledged smoker again. Every time you have just one puff you offering the additction a chance to continue it's Godzilla rampage. You know it's true because you said:
You're right about the addict stuff. I too am a heavy nico-addict and it has been good to not smoke.
So, my friend, this is what it boils down to. Your desire to quit smoking must be stronger than your desire to smoke. You must make a committment not to smoke, no matter what. Here is how I would write programming for quitting smoking: 1 puff...smoking wins 0 puff...Kevin wins It's that simple. ****hands over a new and improved Godzilla hammer**** Pat My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 86 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,457 Amount Saved: $1204 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 2 Mins: 4 Seconds: 11

Just been reading the bio's page and decided to do some thinking about pro's and con's of online communities compared to real life communities. As it was a common interest among the support staff, I thought I would post my thoughts. : Online Communities : 1) The community is a lot larger. Therefore it has a greater reach. Compared to maybe 100 that you can get into a local hall. 2) Some online community members may never see, or feel the need to see their doctor. Via online, they are able to get advice that they may never have received. 3) You can always go back and look at the great advice you have been given. Some forget what the doctor said 5 mins after leaving the surgery 4) Online communities allow you to be as open as you like, or as closed as you like. 5) In a real life community, you have to knock on the door to speak to someone. 6) In an online community, its like knocking on 100 doors simultaneously. 7) In an online community, getting dressed is not a neccessity. 8) Everyone is treated the same, there are no pre-dispositions. 9) You can ask a question at 3am without waking anyone up. 10) You get to know what the weather is like in other parts of the world in an instant There's probably loads more to add. Hope it helps. Does that mean I won't be able to fit in to that new leotard I have just ordered? :) :) /joke Yes, maybe. I'm quite skinny anyway so a bit of unexpected weight is not a problem. I'll remember to keep my diet balanced. If I don't get those patches tonight, Phil is likley to send me to my room without any tea. :) The IM's always seem to have a positive effect on me as you might gather. Just don't ask about the running shorts... Just hang with Phil...you might gain some weight (but who doesn't?), at least he'll point you in the right direction..maybe after a few spins, but in the right direction My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,328 Amount Saved: $224.4 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 13 Mins: 45 Seconds: 23
