Hey JDK,
Welcome and congratulations on making such an important and wonderful decision in your life. You've been so wise to read a lot of material on this site and work towards preparing yourself for your Quit. You really can do this!!
It's normal to feel anxious about quitting. Most people do but honestly, you're not depriving yourself of a single thing. Remind yourself that this is YOUR life, YOUR quit, and YOUR choice. Keep yourself in charge. Stay close to this site, post a lot, and read a lot. Okay? Vent if you need to and ask as many questions as you need to ask.
I type this all of the time but it's so, so important to drink lots and lots of water. It helps with those cravings, withdrawal symptoms, and flushes your system. I don't know why it helps with the cravings but it does. Avoid those "triggers" that make you want to smoke if you can. If you can't avoid them, change them up. Example: A huge trigger for me is my computer. I had to rearrange it, clean it, put a candy jar and candle where the ashtray once sat, and I sat pictures of my family out. Things like that. Have lots of things like Hard Candy, Gum, Sunflower Seeds, Straws, Toothpicks, etc. for that "Hand to Mouth" thing.
The workbook over to the left, under Quit Program Tools, will really help you a lot along with reading posts and posting yourself. We're here to help you. You are strong enough to do this.
Oh, I went cold turkey after 27 years and 2 1/2 packs a day. I stuck close the site, worked that workbook, and read a lot of posts. I posted myself and followed the advice of other folks who had successfully quit. So, you can do this.
Hugs and Stay Strong,
Tutti
