nomi1 - Good for you! Your daughter may or may not quit, that choice is going to have to be made by her... and, my friend, there will always be stress in our daily lives, so be careful not allow stress to be an excuse to light up... This addiction is powerful! So the cravings are going to be there, and the journey will have its challenges. Just hold on tight, ask for help when you need it, and know that were all right here on this walk with you. And, read, read, read, read....... old and new posts! The more you read, the more you will know about this journey, and the more you will learn about how to build your coping skills, so that you will not light up the next time there's stress... Jump right back on the train and don't look back. A bump in the road and you can now move on. You can get through it and learn from it. Good luck! Cigarettes Not Smoked

Bad, if temporary, fight with husband while visiting parents for holiday. College-age daughter, who promised to quit her NEW smoking habit if I did, is smoking again and had cigarettes in her car. Put the two together at big family get-together and I blew it, badly. Five cigarettes in eight hours. I did decide last night that I felt wretched after smoking. Sore throat, yucky taste in mouth, headache and it was harder to sing, just as my once-long-ago-decent-alto was starting to come back. So I slapped a patch on, told my daughter she would quit as soon as she came home for the summer and am back to not smoking. Although of course after putting all that nicotine in me over a short period of time my little 7mg patch today is not doing a good job of holding back cravings. It's crazy. I smoked, feel bad about it, didn't like the effects, and am STILL having cravings.
