Hi Changing (1) ??? (2)My intention was to encourage people here who are younger than myself to get out of this nicotine trap now before the conseqences of their smoking became more severe.(3)If your not gonna do it yourself don,t preach about it plus the support I,m getting here keeps me on the straight and narrow.I lucked out when I found this site other wise I,d still be smoking today. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 241 Amount Saved: $130 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 3 Mins: 56 Seconds: 5

Hey there Bear Once again, Changing said just what I was thinking, but quicker than I could think it :) The only thing I want to add is, and please don't take this the wrong way, but..... I think your scared. If you have been really quit for the last 13 days like you say you have, then you are more committed to this then you are willing to admit to yourself. You don't just quit an addiction, or addictions, like this and then afterwords decide if you really wanted to. You decide first, consciencely or sub-consciencely, then you quit or continue to smoke. You may slip, or fall back, or whatever term you prefer, but you were ready to quit, you did quit. You quit on March 21st and have not smoked since. Remember that and take the time to think about how amazing that is....did you really think last year you would be able to go 13 days without a single cigar? Now you just need to stay quit. And you know this, I know you do.......For me, it's proving to myself that I can do this. Now that's off my chest. You do whatever you are going to do, you are then one who has to live with the choice you make, you know that by now. But whatever happens, the SSC will still be here to encourage you to enjoy a smoke-free life. p.s. I hope I was not too harsh, it's just that I know you can do this. Bear - I'm not sure I fully believe you when you say, ..So as you can see thats why I,m still not sure ?? why I should deprive myself of the pleasure of smoking at my age If you truly/deeply feel this way, then explain: (1) Why you wanted patches (free or not) in the first place? (2) Why you've been such an active & significant part of this support site community? (3) Why you've held on to your quit for 13 days? Hi Guys I think I should Explain why I,m here...I,m part of a study group sponsered by the addiction and reasearch foundation..The only reason I applied was that the patches are free..so my initial intention was not really to quit smoking..So as you can see thats why I,m still not sure ?? why I should deprive myself of the pleasure of smoking at my age inspite of all the health risks attached and even when several members of my family have died of cancer related to smoking.Sorry Candycane but death does,nt scare me it,s just another part of the journey no matter how it comes knocking.Sorry to sound so morbid but it,s just so you know.. I have smoked for 35 yrs. and my health is failing. I know how hard it is for you and am praying for you. I know how you feel about why bother quitting now but you don't want to die hooked up to a respirator gasping for air. Think how your family would feel and what a horrible way to die that is. ITS NEVER TO LATE! Hang in there and you will feel better.

Lainey, If you're having hot flashes, the patch may not adhere as well due to sweating. It also may pose a danger as when we sweat with the patch, we allow our bodies to absorb more nicotine. Try to place in an area that is relatively dry and if you continue to experience difficulties, you can consult your pharmacist for alternatives. Just a reminder to members that we recommend you follow the full course of patches and they should be placed on the upper torso. Danielle _____________________ The SHO Support Team

Hi Bear, I actually put a patch on. I brought it with me just in case and I started getting stressed at work. Oh well I gave it a shot. I should've tried Phil's suggestion LOL. I'm sure it works to keep the patch on especially since I sit most of the day but the arm works fine. So you didn't say how are you feeling with the patch. Hopefully better today. Who knows maybe when I celebrate 6 months I'll take a trip and visit. I might just have a Harley then. I'm looking at a couple of bikes now. There's nothing like it and it would be great to go for a ride and not have to worry about smoking!! It'll be at least 4 more years before I can get back in a rig. I pretty much decided to wait til my daughter is older. She's old enough to take care of herself but old enough to get in a lot of trouble. Some day I can dream....
