Bear - How about this - end the debate. A few weeks ago you wanted to quit smoking cigars, but you weren't necessarily committed to quitting. Part of you wanted to quit - otherwise you wouldn't have wanted the patches. Now, you've decided to be committed to being smokefree. For today, you are a non-smoker. Don't overthink it. You have made a decision. And Bear, you said: I,m a Gemini so the one guy is saying this is good to quit smoking and the other guy is saying why bother at your age . You're not 105 years old!!!! And, based on the spunk we've all seen in your posts, it doesn't exactely sound like you're at death's door! In fact, it sounds like you've got a lot more living & trouble-making to do! Hey Bear, Just wanted to check in and say Hi. I feel as though I can't get my day going anymore without seeing how my friends here are. Ha, it's about time I had some friends :) I am so glad you find everyone here so supportive of your quit, I know I feel the same way, and have heard it from many, many others. This place is an amazing resource for anyone at any point in their journey. Be happy and keep your quit strong :) Tara My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/15/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 48 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,211 Amount Saved: $396 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 10 Mins: 49 Seconds: 0

Hi Changing My initial curiosity was that this was a legimate study that I could participate in and they provided 10 weeks of patches. Several months previous to this I received free patches but it was only for 5 weeks and I failed miserable and started smoking again..What I had,nt counted on was you guys being so supportive on this quit. So i,m kind of caught between a rock and a hard place!!!By the way I,m a Gemini so the one guy is saying this is good to quit smoking and the other guy is saying why bother at your age ???? I hope this sheds a little light on my dilema :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 259 Amount Saved: $140 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 9 Mins: 43 Seconds: 24

HI Bear To be honest I really don't care why you're here only that you are here posting every day and have not smoked. Regardless of your reasons for quitting smoking, you have been smoke free and between you and everyone else here you have inspired me in my quit. I give you alot of credit, and respect your honesty. Free patches or not there are other study groups you could have involved yourself with. Everyone has their own reasons why they quit and the bottom line is that it sucks that we were lured into an addiction that's destructive in so many ways. Don't give up now you have come so far. Just think maybe in a couple of months you'll see us none smokers come driving past your home in a big rig with fishing poles and a trail motorcycles celebrating our quit:) Hang in there driver your doing so well and if it's getting difficult keep posting and rant to your hearts desire. You can and you have done it so far keep it up!!! Bear, Find a new game????? Move your computer to a different spot? Both worked for me. You are doing great, by the way! Please don't stop now... Whatever your motivation, don't you feel better? Bear - My first question was, if you didn't want to quit, why did you want the patch? You said - I,m part of a study group sponsered by the addiction and reasearch foundation..The only reason I applied was that the patches are free. then you said so my initial intention was not really to quit smoking... So, I'm confused, why did you want the patch if you didn't intend to quit smoking?
