One of my smoking customers. I told them I had quit smoking because of my well-known and advertised cough. He asked if I still wanted a cigarette sometimes. Of course I answered honestly yes. He gave me a cigarette for when it got too bad. I told him I didn't want it. He put the cigarette back in the pack but after he left, I saw that when my back was turned he put it on a table.
I cannot touch it. It's still there. I look at it from time to time. I cannot touch it. I'm afraid that if I touch it, even to throw it away, I'll smoke it, and start coughing maybe for the last time. I've asked my husband to throw it away. He can't do it either for the same reasons. So there it sits like an accusing finger. When the day comes that I can throw it away, then I know I've won.
