First day quitting

16 years ago 0 706 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Angela, you can do it and you will do it. I questioned if I was going to be able to do it. I was scared to quit. I didn't know if I "knew how to be a non-smoker". The first few days were tough, really tough. But as each day passes it gets a little easier. Sure, there are good days and bad days, but you can do it. It has helped me telling myself that smoking is not an option anymore. No matter what happens or how I feel I remind myself that smoking is no longer an option and to find something else to calm me down or relax me or relief my boredom. This site has also been a huge help. I can sit back and read that others have been through and are going through exactly what I am... Then I see their stats... and I know I can do it too. You can do it Angela... and we are here to cheer you on... Hi Angela, you can do it. Your no different from any of us here, some who have succeeded, some who failed a few times and then climbed back on board. As everyone has said its a horrible addiction, BUT...it can be broken, just read some of the oldie's who post, and see there meters....come on Angela, it will be so worth it in the long run. You don't have to stop living because you stopped smoking, start living NOW.....we will help you along the way... all the best jeanigirl My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 151 Amount Saved: $52.25 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 6 Mins: 28 Seconds: 4

Welcome Angela and congratulations on your decision. Yes it is hard but it is the right decision. Work the program here and stay close by. Read and learn everything you can about nicotine addiction. Being prepared to deal with the craves and temptations is critical. So have a plan. Take things one minute, one hour, one day at a time. You can always talk yourself into waiting one more minute if you get the urge to smoke. Just string those minutes together one at a time and you will succeed. You can do this. Angela...first welcome and congrats on your decision to quit...You know in your heart want you want to do and you need to stay focused on that....It is hard....you smoke a huge part of your life and you become dependent on it...I was terriefied of gaining weight...I had lost 30 pounds a few years ago and i didn't want to take the chance of gaining all back...so I started walking....At least I am trying to maintain my weight....I also am trying to watch how much fat I am putting in my body.....I know it seems impossible...but you can do it if you really want IT. take it one day at a time....I slipped and had one... then a week later I did it again....I gave into the nicodeamon as some would call it....and had just one....I am thankful that It was just one....but also remember that N O P E is a great way to live by.... Not one puff ever ! add me as a buddy in your im! CONGRADULATIONS :) Just be positive and you can do it. I get soooo moody when I try to quit smoking!!! I almost feel sorry for my husband having to put up with me. I'm going to try to keep that under control this time but I know It doesn't seem to take much to set me off. My quit date hasn't arrived yet so I'm trying to cut out some of the most routine cigs. Good luck, hang in there, your going to make it. I'll be here for you.

Angela, Your story sounds much like mine! I tried quitting several times over the last two years, each time to no avail. Only now can I admit that I always saw another cigarette in my future all those times. This quit is different, though. I've learned from my mistakes, and I've decided to let myself accept help. Like the support system I've found here. And I'm taking Chantix. Read posts and post often! I look at my quit-meter daily to remind myself of my streak, and I go through the day not wanting to mess that up...With even one puff. 'Cause I know myself well enough to know that I'd fall right back into buying packs and smoking full-time. But Lynne is right: only you can know if you're ready. I'm pulling for ya!! --Shakes My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 663 Amount Saved: $297 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 4 Mins: 21 Seconds: 4

hello angela and welcome you say you wonder if it is worth it? well, only you can answer that, cos it has to be your decision. Is your desire to smoke stronger than your desire to quit? believe in yourself, and keep telling yourself that it will bring you so many benefits hope this helps lynnexx My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/24/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 196 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,941 Amount Saved: 784 Life Gained: Days: 22 Hrs: 1 Mins: 29 Seconds: 20
