Hi Lin, Well, you did it for 24 hours! Now you know that you can actually break the smoking cycle. Quitting smoking is serious business; therefore you have to be serious about your desire to quit. You need to prepare yourself. Have a plan of what you are going to do when the cravings seem unbearable. Can you do a puzzle, ride your bike, take a walk, turn the music up loud and dance, punch a pillow, go to sleep, take a bath, etc, etc. These are only a few of the things that members here have used to get through the craving for nicotine. Read and work through the online program here and educate yourself about what to expect in this quitting process. Think about everything that you read. Reading and posting here is also a wonderful way to work through how you are feeling. Your whole brain and body is crying out for it's fix of nicotine. We are drug..nicotine..addicts. You must go through withdrawals to come out on the other side to freedom. You can do this; just get serious. Welcome to the scc. it's not unbearable....cause there are too many of us here that have weathered the storm....you CAN do it. You just have to want to quit WORSE than you want to smoke. You need to make plans as to how you will distract and delay when the urges come on. Don't let there be room in your plans for the thinking of failure....just plan how you are going to make the quit "easier". Withdrawal peaks in the first few days.....after 3 days the majority of the nicotine is out of your blood stream...oh you will still have withdrawal...but you must just keep distracting and saying no. Not smoking must be a "choice". You won't die I promise....I am here as proof. Get a grip, get determined and then quit! It's quite doable if you want it badly enough Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1851 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 74,072 Amount Saved: $10550.7 Life Gained: Days: 244 Hrs: 5 Mins: 13 Seconds: 48
