mitri Good to see you well and going forward this morning...I know that type of thing is very upsetting at on set...However, I always try to remember that when that occurs I am not generally in any real danger and nothing terrible is going to happen... I generally think of this as an intense form of our basic flight or fight instict...As I haven't been attacked by any wild beasts lately, I have to think that the stimulus for this is a failure of my basic survival insticts to understand the difference between physical danger and the various nightmares my little brain manages to create... I am glad that you spoke with your doctor and there is nothing of a physical nature going on...The problem with the mental part is its a bit like going to a movie and sitting in the very front row...Its pretty hard to tell what is really going on as you crane your neck to see various blurred images going past...It is best to sit further back so that the images become clear...Perhaps it is best as well for us to back off what ever we are seeing at the moment that is causing our bodies to go into hyper drive so that we can see that these are not things to be feared, just images and thoughts that we put on our theaters of the mind... Stay well and know that your decision to stop poisoning yourself is the best present you can possibly give to yourself and those who love you in this life... nonic

Mitri, You can do one of two things... Go to the Doctor...who will prescribe a med...or try to do it on your own. auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 45 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,273 Amount Saved: $213.75 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 6 Mins: 10 Seconds: 29

Mitri: There are a number of people here who have experienced panic attacks. I have and they can be quite frightening -- you honestly think you're having a heart attack. PLEASE, please, please contact your doctor. You do not have to suffer these panic attacks without help, you know. There are excellent medications that can be of tremendous help, especially while you protect your quit. It doesn't mean you have to stay on meds forever, but I implore you to at least talk to the doctor and explore your options. It may well go away on its own in time, but that's difficult to know for certain or to predict when that may be. Everyone is different. Obviously, SMOKING is NOT an option, right? Congratulate yourself for your great quit and please be gentle with yourself right now. How are you rewarding yourself? That is SO very important, you know. Please keep us posted, ok? We tend to be a group of worriers around these parts! Keep the faith -- you CAN do this! First. congrats on 11 days cold turkey. amazing. Secondly. I'm so sorry that you are so uncomfortable. My 2 cents is to consider going to the MD to rule out anything else. You're comming off smoking 3-6 cigaretts a day, right? It could be psychological or some physical withdrawal. Every quit is different. I didn't experience that. I read some old posts of yours, you've had this for a while and it's escalating (sp?). If it were me, I'd want to rule some things out, not that that always works, but I would try it. Stay strong in your quit. One thing's for sure - a cigarette won't help at this point. Glad you feel disgusted by it. Let us know how you are doing. Mitri, I just want to say one last time that you are quitting smoking right now, but that does not mean that everything in your life has to do with that. You could very easily be having panic attacks, related to quitting smoking or not. You also might want to rule out anything else that again may not have to do with your quitting smoking. I just want you to remember that this is not a medical advice site. We are here to support you in your decisions and offer awareness. Stay strong and keep us posted. mitri.....go check with your doc....tell him about your quit and about all your symptoms.....then let him help you decide how to handle this situation? if you do nothing, you will feel better for having discussed it with a doctor. There is enough stress that goes with quitting....don't submit yourself to more than necessary....consulting a doctor about your concerns is never wrong and day 11 is awesome.....the first weeks are the worst. hang tough and be proud of yourself.....have you had a reward for all your hard work?? mitri, This is normal in the first few weeks, but you may also want to check with your doctor to rule out anything medical. Let us know, Josie ______________________ The SSC Support Team.
