Hi there Bernie! Welcome to this awesome site! You said you weren't sure how to start...yes you do...you found it right here! On the left of this page there are tools that are awesome and help teach you how to quit. There is even a Quit Program Workbook to assist. Another great tool for has been to read the posts from the "ole timers" and trust me there are MANY! It has taken me about 2 weeks to get my particular plan in place but others "just stop". I wish you much determination and committment! I have no info on the items you asked about but please do the work on the left side of this page. I think that without the resolve to REALLY quit it will be so much harder on you. My quit day is tomorrow and I will be happy to walk this road with you. There are a few of us (hopefully even more by the time its over) quitting this week/weekend. Please join on the journey. You can do this... Bernie, a couple of pieces of information that might help you. Each time you inhale the smoke, you are getting a fix. So you can not smoke for eight or ten hours, but when you satisfy the craving by taking a smoke, you're sending yourself right back into withdrawals. So you have to have another fix. See? It's a vicious cycle. The only way to stop is to STOP. Get rid of the cigarettes. Get rid of old butts. Get rid of all smoking paraphernalia. Make a ceremony of it. Read the workbook and make your lists: reasons for quitting, coping mechanisms, reward plan. Keep a quit journal. Drink lots of water. Keep your blood sugar up. And, just don't smoke! Bernie, Welcome and please prepare yourself. After that last one, no more and you need to be ready for what this quit may throw at you. Use those chores to keep you occupied and get moving. Always have coping mechanisms ready and post for extra support :) We are always here! Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
