Great Job!!! I sense something so sincere in your quit. You will be one to take the lead here and set an example for others. It sounds as though you invested a lot of mental preparation and that is a big plus. Welcome, and thank you for joining us! Hey Freedom, Ditto on all of that, however I won't get a scale, although I know I've gained too. I'm also walking and feel great about it. The extra time from not smoking is not so overwhelming now as it used to be. Our meters are neck and neck. As you can see though, I come from tobacco country where cigarettes are cheap, so I bum out at how slowly my $ saved creeps up compared to others. This is getting easier, don't you think? I feel less and less "lost" every day and waiting for the arrival of the "newfound" me. Just don't smoke!!! Good job! Being part of a team does help with the craves, questions, ect. I want to know what you are going to do with the money that has accumulated on your quit meter? I have decided when I hit the six month mark I am going to buy the camera I have been admiring for the past few years. (And still have some change!!!!) Nice to meet you! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 353 Amount Saved: $96.6 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 4 Mins: 14 Seconds: 27

Welcome, Stillgotit! Glad to see you here. I quit about the same time you did. There are several on this sites with dates very close to ours. I smoked 32 years, and decided I had enough! Sometimes friends or co-workers talk to me as if I "might" go back to smoking and I look at them like they are nuts! Smoking is not an option in my life. Smoking? What is that? It doesn't sound good, so I don't think I want any part of it! Keep us posted on how you are doing! Stillgotit: Your name says it all -- YOU'VE STILL GOT IT!! (And we all have to believe that about ourselves!) You've definitely got the right attitude about this -- it is indeed NEVER too late to conquer this addiction. We have several members who smoked 50 years and more. I was well on my way at 35 years before I finally smartened up! I'm with you -- no nicotine replacement therapy as I felt it important to get the addiction itself behind me as soon as possible. Now it's just fighting off the occasional junkie thoughts that creep in and I can handle those -- the worst part is definitely behind me. Some people have found the nicotine replacement a Godsend for them and I totally respect that. We each have our own way of making this happen. Congratulations to you -- you are doing an awesome job! We're here to help in any possible way. Keep reading here and post often so we'll know how you're doing. Keep the faith -- and that terrific quit! Welcome StillGotIt and congrats on your quit. I can tell you are a strong and intelligent man who has what is takes to beat this thing. I have quit several times before but this time I came here regularly and I truly beleive it gave me the strength to keep going when I felt like giving up. I was a pack a day smoker for 26 years so it wasn't easy but I promise you, it does get easier each and every day and there will come a day when you hardly give it any thought!! Hang in there and experience the freedom you really have never experienced throughout your life. JUST REMEMBER SMOKING IS NO LONGER AN OPTION AND NOPE IS KEY FOR SUCCESS. Stay strong - stay quit.
