Welcome Peterpan! We have a wendy and a windy and...if you look behind you...we have loads of lost boys! Keep the quit and stay strong! The one thing we don't have is Tinkerbell with magic pixie dust. (Well, we DO have Phil flitting around here somewhere....) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 167 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,385 Amount Saved: $1336 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 18 Mins: 12 Seconds: 18

Peterpan, You keep smoking despite all these events because you are addicted to nicotine. Fear makes you want to smoke more because over the years, you've learned to cope with your emotions by smoking. Smoking boosts the chemicals in your brain for good mood. When you are sad, angry or other, you smoked. Your brain received the signal, released these chemicals and you felt better. Start working through our program. It will teach you what you need to know about quitting and help you prepare for some of the triggers and obstacles that lie ahead. Congratulations on 4 days! You're doing great! I am back again. Just seem to be on a cycle of quit/fail/ quit / fail and then I hate myself. Have just done an Allen Carr clinic and hopefully this is it. I am so sick of trying and failing. Hi all, Thanks so much for your support. I am battling with a chest infection too and am really low. Hoping that I can hold on this time. It's ridiculous- I want to quit but want to smoke too. How sad is that. I know it's a killer-my sisiter in law died on Dec 30th from lung cancer and yet my brother, who watched her die, is still smoking too. What is wrong with us???I am so scared that I have left it too late, and the fear makes me want to smoke more. Where's the logic in that?? Hi All, Its actually funny, calling myself peterpan, because my real name is Wendy and my Dad always called me Tinkerbell... I am doing fairly ok. I am still craving and feeling quite ill- I have a really bad cold and chest infection, plus all the gunge from not smoking is also making itsself known, so i actually feel pretty grim. But, I know now that its the addict in me wanting to smoke, not me. I want to stay quit!! For you Paul: Allen Carr wrote the Easyway books- I quit for the longest time ever after reading his book, then had a setback and started again. There are Allen Carr clinics all over the world now where you go for a 5 hour session, guaranteed to make you quit or you can claim your miney back ( you need to do 2 back upp sessions if the 1st doesn't work, then you claim back if you are still a smoker within 3 months of your session)At the clinic the person talking is an ex smoker who has quit thru the clinic. They don't use scare tactics- they take away all your illusions about smoking and how the addiction works. It is really good. I am positive that this is it for me. My son will be learning about smoking and the effects soon, as it is part of the curriculum, and I really don't want him to look at me like only kids know how- you know the look they get when they see you doing something really stupid.. Thnaks for your support- I really really need it and will try and stay tough.
