Hi Tutti Hadn't quite finished I understand that you are in a very difficult position however these are the cards that you have been dealt. So we are going to have to work with what we have. Have you worked the SCC work book? Why are you quiting, list those reasons and keep a mental picture of your reasons when triggers strike. You have to be strong and determined to quit. Nothing can get in your way so be strong. I also use to go to bed early and that worked for me. Can you take sleeping pills if need be? Tutti, I like your post, your style, your courage and your reasoning. I'm like you - I don't think there's a deep seated reason. I think there's an addiction. End of story. What we do as an addict is to fully encompass our addiction and totally embrace nicotine. We invite it into every stage, occasion and circumstance in our lives. So when we quit, we mourn the loss of our best pal. I was an emotional roller coaster type while I smoked. I pigged out, drank, got high, got low, got cranky, got insanely happy - all with a cig in my hand. No reason to doubt for a second I'd feel all of those things when I quit! But hey, guess what, I didn't start smoking until I was 21. And I'm willing to bet you oodles of cash not one single person on this site started smoking the moment they popped onto this glorious planet. So ALL of us have dealt with every emotional circumstance in life, without a smoke in our hands long before we ever quit. And I figure if I could deal with life as a child and in my teens without smoking, I can kick my sorry ass and manage the same as a grown up! Stay strong. Hi Tutti. I smoked half of one 5 months ago. It was only meant to be one. That led to me smoking for another 5 months pretty much. That was horrible i felt such a failure. I thought about coming back here and using a different name. But i thought why do that, I am just going to be myself. I was almost too embarassed to come back here - but I know that my quit is only not tough because i can come here. Its like the best rehab on the planet. We need to experience negative, we need to experience failure to appreciate success. Success is far easier to obtain when he have experienced some negative and some failure. Well I think so anyway. :) Ok you are back at day one. but that is ok. Don't be too hard on yourself. I was a 'serial' quitter until I FINALLY adheared to NOPE. That certainly is the key to a successful quit, isn't it? Not One Puff Ever......

^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.... Phil thinks he is Mary Poppins! Jump back up on the wagon Tutti. Eventually it will be done if you want it bad enough. In the meantime... Because I was afraid to speak when I was just a lad, My father gave me nose a tweak and told me I was bad, But then one day I learned a word that saved me achi' nose, The biggest word I ever heard and this is how it goes: SUPERCALLIFRAGILISTICEXPEALIDOCIOUS...... ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 164 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,217 Amount Saved: $1312 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 9 Mins: 38 Seconds: 46

Tutti, Learn from this experience and keep going! What led to your slip? How will you avoid it next time? Did you have cigarettes readily available? Why? Don't be too hard on yourself, there is a learning curve here. Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

PS: Tutti - I just read your other post. Triggers are going to be there. Face them, build up your coping skills, spend some serious time here reading old posts and also make sure to create some distractions. GET RID OF ANY CIGS! And hold on tight... You must have a strong, focused and grounded commitment, so dig deep... Deeper... and deeper. Stop focusing on the triggers... when they come up, don't give them power. Get out your coping skills and get busy staying quit, one step at a time. You can do this... just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and no smoking! :) Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 350 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,273 Amount Saved: $1627.5 Life Gained: Days: 45 Hrs: 20 Mins: 37 Seconds: 16

Hi Tutti - Quitting is really REALLY tough stuff... One of my biggest triggers was the computer, and I had to dig deep, really deep, and hold on tight to my commitment to stay quit as I work on the computer each and every day all day (my work is for the most part tied to the puter)... Triggers are ONLY triggers, they only have the power YOU give them. I have a question for you... Is your desire to quit stronger than your desire to smoke? Keeping ANY cigarettes anywhere is not a good idea... I found a brand new pack in my back seat the other day (in my SUV) even today with such a strong and grounded quit, I threw them out immediately! I am careful to protect my quit no matter what ... Do the same, friend. Holding onto a couple of cigs is a big mistake IMHO. Don't place that temptation in front of you. If a person addicted to cocaine has a little baggie with a few lines in the dresser drawer "just in case" - what do we think that person will do in the dark night of the soul? Oh - and cold turkey? Not a problem - a can-do! I did cold turkey, no slips, and so can YOU... Blessings- Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 350 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,273 Amount Saved: $1627.5 Life Gained: Days: 45 Hrs: 20 Mins: 36 Seconds: 48
