Day 8 going crazy

Day 8-er myself (can't believe I made it through a week, holy cow!) and I've had a few bonkers moments today that passed. Distract yourself and do it often! Hang in there littlebit, you can get through this! Hi to all, yes we have made it through hell week, but dont let down the gaurd. I too had thoughts of a smoke, sounds like days 8/9 are typically tough for lots of folks. I tried to stop back in early November, did just as well as I have during this quit, with the exception of giving into craving during days 8/9. The mistake I did was to let myself believe that I could have just one. My husband is still smoking so it was easy to find where he was hiding his smokes. I had told myself stopping has been easy, I can treat myself to one while alone in the car, which I did. Several days later I repeated the same sneaky process. Eventually I just gave in and bought my own brand, figured if I were a controlled smoker might as well smoke my own flavor. Needless to say, by mid December I was back to my regular smoking habits full time. I know that I can not give in to the thinking that I can have just one as a reward. Never think of a smoke as a reward, it is the demon trying to get you back. I know that for me hell week will be hell month, hopefully it goes as successful as my new start has gone. I already know that for me the battle is stronger as I start feeling in control of my addiction. Hope some of my mumbo jumbo helps someone. Good Luck to us all, this site is helping me loads. Have a great day. Day 8'er as well and something must be in the air because today has seen more cravings then usual for me as well. Guess Nic doesn't want to let go. Hang in there littlebit, you are doing very nicely. Quitting is no easy task, just stay busy and use your coping mechanisms and stay close by. Hang in there. What kind's of things do you have in place to distract yourself? Some things right off the top of my head. Go for a walk; take deep cleansing breaths; make some hot tea; take a nap if you can; take a shower if you can; go to a nonsmoking establishment and walk around; read a book or a magazine, suck on some sugar free candies. I promise it get's better...we just need to get you through today. No matter what happens...do not smoke....this will pass, I promise! Post and let us know how your doing this afternoon. There's a lot of people in you boat right now. Start bailing. Forget the spoon and grab a bucket. You've got to get tough. Just get up and run outside. Do whatever you've got to do to get through this crave. It will pass, whether or not you have a cigarette. Read, read read this site. There is a lot of good information surrounding this topic that has been posted of old and very recently. You are not the only one going through this. But you are the only one in your skin. YOU CAN DO THIS. You just made the mistake of going 7 days without a drag, so we know you can do this. Get serious :eg: Get tough!
