Marg's in day five!

Marg, Isn't it amazing how much you accomplish as a non-smoker. Keeping busy sure has its advantages. I'm on day 5 also. I have to say I must have the cleanest house on the block. Sometimes I find myself cleaning the same thing twice. Talk about a foggy brain. I keep telling myself one day at a time. Tomorrow will be my first weekend. Soooo, I'll be here this weekend also. Good luck to everyone and thanks for the support. Rhonda and Marg, You guys are doing fine. The looming weekend may seem scary, but please do not be afraid.....be confident in your determination to quit smoking. Be confident in yourself that you can just SAY NO! Being afraid can let the nicodemon in and he will work his magic on you....just don't smoke this weekend...make it to Monday and report back here!!! Members, You're all doing beautifully! The first smoke free weekend can seem daunting but just like all the other days you've gotten through smoke free, you can get through these ones. If you're done with your to-do list, tackle the want list. Is there any activity, hobby or place you've always wanted to do but just never found the time? Try rewarding yourself with it! You're quit has open the door for you to discover new passions. Take advantage! Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team

WOW! look at all of you, Marg, Rhonda, Gismo, and Rai. Half way through Hell week and still able to type on the boards. ;p First weekend is a special time and you can do a couple of things to help you get through it. 1. Look through the site for the weekend promise thread. Then get in there and make your promise to not smoke this weekend. (We will hold you to it) 2. As you tackle what ever project you have planned for the weekend, be sure and take a break every hour. Stop, take some deep breaths and get up and get a drink of water or juice(Juice is good, because it keeps your blood sugar up). Walk around for a couple of minutes while you drink your juice. Do a few stretches and bends. Then smile and go back to your project. 3. Keep some favorite music on to help lift your mood. 4. Be sure and keep your hands busy. 5. If you don't go out, you can't buy smokes! a little ps, this is not the weekend to be doing old memory searching, like photos or sitting around alone moping. Marg, Yahoo! Way to go! When you first quit or cut down, you may find it difficult to sleep as long as you used to. Two things can cause this are: 1) As a smoker your sleep may have been interrupted by constant coughing and/or difficulty breathing. When you stop smoking, your body gets healthier and the sleep you get is more restful. So if you wake up suddenly at 5:00 a.m., you may think you are a victim of insomnia. You're probably not! Your body has probably had all the sleep it needs. 2) Smoking drains your body's energy. When you quit smoking you regain this energy. You may need fewer hours of sleep. How long will this last? The first few weeks after quitting. Tips to help: Try making sure you have a regular sleeping schedule. If you wake up in the middle of the night do some light stretches, or read a book to help you get to sleep. If you have a symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. Its possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable. Congratulations on being 5 days quit :) Melanie _________________________ The SSC Support Team
