Mental Cloudiness - anything I can take, vitamins or something?

Gingko Biloba is an herb that's really supposed to improve concentration but I'd talk to your doctor before trying anything herbal, just in case. Me, I was completely exhausted during hell week, and found Ginseng to be a huge help for a boost rather than gulping down caffeine. I'm fairly convinced that much of my nicotine addition is down to trying to keep myself awake! (Silly moo.) Try going to be earlier, duh! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 173 Amount Saved: 38.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 18 Seconds: 9

Laughing at 2tone enjoying the confusion! When I think about it... those first couple of days were quite relaxing! I didn't do a thing! Freedom, I would like to see the answer to this one as well. I can't get myself to settle down and focus on much of anything for very long. I feel like I must have attention deficit disorder. I understand your "condition"! I am the same! Maybe some of our more "mature" non-smoker friends will give us ideas! We are just baby non-smokers still learning. Hi Marie! For me, the inability to concentrate lasted about 3 days, but I imagine it's different for everyone. Since I was on vacation during that time, I was actually kinda glad I couldn't concentrate, so I didn't try to "fix it"....which means, I'm afraid I don't have any tips to help you out with. Maybe you can try doing a little bit at a time rather then the whole project at once. Is it possible to approach it that way? I'm sure someone will be along shortly who can offer more help with this - so hang tight! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/23/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 512 Amount Saved: $120 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 6 Mins: 43 Seconds: 10

Hey Marie - This will only last a few days (if that long)...I just sat back and enjoyed the confusion for awhile. It'll go away quick enough and then reality sets in, so enjoy it while you can! Only have a minute here- I was spacey for about a week. I also take a multi vit. anyway. watch for safety precautions, especially while driving, cooking and any heating devices. It will pass, it's kinda like having a cold. pamper yourself right now and try not to do too much. you need to protect your quit. The inability to concentrate is due to the carbon monoxide leaving your system. Carbon monixide is a poison, so this is definitely a good thing. You might notice that you are "spaced out" for a few days, perhaps about 3-4 days at the most. Duffis calls it "having the IQ of a rutabega" in "Another Duffis Sermon." if you haven't read it already - I definitely recommend that post! It is often recommended, if possible, that you take off of work for a few days if you have a job that requires you to think quickly. If it's not possible, drink plenty of water - that supposedly helps get the toxins out of your system quicker. Other than that, there's not much advice I can offer. The toxins have to leave your system and in the meantime, you might feel a little lupey. Just hang in there - it WILL pass! Crave the Quit! I remember 'the fog' as well. You may just have to ride this out. It will get better. I remember feeling almost 'drugged' that first week or two. (Sad, 20 years ago I paid good money for that feeling! LOL) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 122 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,142 Amount Saved: $976 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 0 Mins: 10 Seconds: 25
