Hi Charlene Another Chantix quitter here. I don't know about you but I feel like I want to have a cigarette but that I don't really need it. does that make sense . Gosh, darn! No, I'm in the Northeast, married to a Union Guy, that's close enough, no? I have a couple of military friends though! I say a special thanks to those who give their lives for our freedom every day. Nice to meet you Charlene, a real pleasure :) Marie

Hi Charlene, we have alot in common. I am 44 as well and smoked for 30 years and am also using Chantix :) I love your reply "If I am supporting others, I am supporting myself", particuarly as I feel a bit funny supporting new joiners when I'm really not qualified to give advice, but I'm trying to at least make a point of saying welcome. Congratulations. Charlene - I'm a 32+ year smoker that used Chantix to quit. I gotta tell ya, it's a great help! You still have to do the hard stuff like NOT SMOKE, but Chantix will kill your physical craving to smoke. If you crave a smoke, it's phychological. I had a few side effects from Chantix early on (cramps, stomach ache, etc.), but it's better than smoking. Two days after I quit, I read Allen Carr's book - the easy way to quit...I read the book in five hours. Let me tell you, the book, the Chantix and the nice people here are all you'll need. Good luck! -- 2tone My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 555 Amount Saved: $104.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 6 Mins: 19 Seconds: 18

Marie, Thanks for the kind words. You are right, we have many things in common. Now if you tell me you live in the midwest and are married to a military man, I may just sit here with my jaw open. Charlene

I've smoked my entire adult life. I started when I was 15 and now I'm 44. I am on Chantix and I do get a little queezy in the mornings but it's better than smoking. I actually joined this site back in November when I made my ill fated attempt at quitting. I think this time I need the support group and to check my quit meter on a regular basis. I have gone 9 days without smoking and I'm not real sure why I caved. You will be seeing me frequently around now. If I'm supporting others, I'm also supporting myself. Thanks a bunch guys. I have every reason to quit and none to keep smoking. I will be here often. Does anyone ever use the live chat?

Glad to have you here! Keep with the program and resist those urges. A friend of mine on Chantix will go a week or so and then smoke 'to see how it makes her feel'...defeats the purpose. Must be looking for that nonexistent magic cure. Keep the reasons you are quitting handy and keep coping tools close by! You can do it! I smoked for 34 years and had worked up to 3 packs a day. I NEVER thought I could do it...... I called yesterday to Dr after I had read on this site about the rx. Waiting for him to call it in! Next Thursday is my quit date... I wanna be just like you guys when I grow up! I live in the south though... can I join your fun?
