As for the dreams, I quit CT and STILL had very vivid dreams, so I think that perhaps it's not necessarily the patch that causes these dreams, although I've been told that the patch tends to make them worse... but I experienced the same thing when quit Cold Turkey. As for the snacking, surround yourself with healthy snacks. They don't have to JUST be carrots and celery sticks, although those are two very healthy snacks, but you can also throw in some other low calorie snacks as well. That should keep you from packing on too many pounds. Also, gum keeps your mouth working as well and doesn't give you too many calories from it. At the end of meals, try sticking in a piece of gum to retrain your brain that you're done eating. Others have used a piece of pepper-jack cheese or some other cheese with a bite to it to signify the end of a meal. Or, you could use a hard candy - they also have very few calories and keep your mouth busy. Do it after EVERY meal and never skip this step - before long, you will start craving the substitute instead of the cigarette. It's all a mind game and right now, you just have to retrain your brain and "trick" it into craving other things besides cigarettes. Crave the Quit! Wearing the patch at night did not seem to effect me significantly. I liked those vivid dreams... I really do not know it it is the patch or decrease in nicotine that causes those vivid dreams. I say that because when I started on Chantix the dreams returned and is also listed as a side effect. Perhaps our cold turkey's can tell us if they experienced dreams or maybe the mods can enlighten us..... Hi CG Well done you on day two. About the snacking - don't worry about it - just do whatever you need in this early part of your quit to get through . If you are really concerned then try eating healthy snacks like carrot sticks and drink lots of water. Another thing you can try is creating a list of all the things around the house/workplace that need done and that you've been putting off. Then set to them - it will keep you busy and distracted and you'll get rid of energy draining tolerances that drag you down. Give it a go. Keep going - you are doing yourself such a huge favour by becoming smoke free. Remember to be gentle on yourself and reward your efforts too. All the very best to you. Hi there cg, Evening can be a bit of a drama but here's a shorty but a goody.... Drink lots of water at tea time (it fills you up), eat lots of fruit or even better - go for a walk or run. These little things will put you in good steed for your whole quit & beyond. I agree, do not wear the patch at night. I too tried the patch once. And it gave me very bizarre dreams. In fact, I used to remove it at least an hour before bed to keep the dreams away. (sometimes they were nightmares and sometimes they were just plain crazy dreams!) I'm surprised you haven't experienced that yet. Many members experienced these vivid dreams. They have also shared that by taking off the patch right before bed, has lessened these dreams. They are also sure to put it on, first thing in the morning. Check with your doctor or pharmacist as it can be a side effect. Hope this helps, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.

CG, Welcome to our support community and please take a look around. Continue to work with the patch program closely and check with your doctor and pharmacist regarding dosages and side effects. If you are going to snack, do so with healthy snacks. If you find you are eating too much then substitute a bottle of water in between. Use the program to guide you through and post often for assistance. We are always here for you :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
