Hi jame, This has nothing to do with alcohol and is all to do with your desire - your desire to quit or your desire to smoke, which is the strongest? Don't be frightened off by false statements like "it'll never work" - that's nonsense. Believe me it can work - and it will work if you really, really want to be finished with smoking, if your desire to be quit is greater than your desire to smoke. If you really want to be quit you will be able to face anything that may cause others to fail; you are not others, you are YOU! There are plenty here who are testament to what I am saying. Go and enjoy the party, have a drink, have fun, celebrate, just choose not to smoke. Like I said, if you WANT to stay quit, you will stay quit. Good Luck Penitent d982

here's the bottom line....your quit comes FIRST! it's like an infant. Would you take an infant and expose it to death??? would you even expose it to severe injury?? well don't do this to your quit either!! If a party will make you smoke, then don't go to the party....if drinking may cause you to smoke, then don't drink. back to the bottom line.....your quit comes FIRST! katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1847 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 73,918 Amount Saved: $10527.9 Life Gained: Days: 243 Hrs: 17 Mins: 6 Seconds: 26

Jame, Avoid the temptations and concentrate on you! Perhaps plan something without drinking involved. If you absolutely must go them have coping mechanisms on hand and substitute water every other drink. This will slow you down and you can continue to make the right choice :) Have a back up plan and support person to help you get through this. You can do this, however, you do not want to set yourself up to fail! You know the situation will tempt you, so stay away for now or be prepared. We are here to help, let us know :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.

Jame, We are not here to judge, only support! Learn from this and know that you may have to stay clear of this trigger to help you continue through this quit. If mechanisms do not work, then leave the situation and limit your drinking for a while. We are all here for you :) Josie ______________________ The SSC Support Team.
