Wow so good to see the replies, it really has bolstered my resolve. I realised that I am not the only person in the world trying to quit, what I had not realised is that there are so many good people willing to take a few moments to post encouragement to a complete stranger.
Thankyou all from the bottom of my heart.
I have managed to avoid every urge to smoke, but in doing so, I have taken up the habit of drinking a glass of red wine whilst cooking the dinner.
I was speaking to my sister on the phone (she quit 20 years ago) whilst cooking and sipping my wine and when I mentioned the wine she jokingly said that she will end up responsable for me quitting smoking and taking up drink ;p
Joking aside I realise that it would be all to easy to replace one bad habit for another.
I like the idea of drinking lots of water and eating clementines better.
I cannot believe that I went untill yesterday without having a strong urge to smoke.
Until then I the idea of smoking had popped into my head, but I was able to dismiss the thought in an instance.
I was smoking 20 a day, so I expected to have trouble the minute I tried to deny myself a cigarette, so I was pretty pleased when that was not the case.
However, as I said, as of yesterday I have had 3 risky moments which I have managed to get pass.
Im going to have a cup of jazmin tea and do some housework now. Washing and cleaning the furnishings and household, making everything smell fresh is one of the benifits of quitting for me.

CONGRATS, You are doing great, and don't give up your quit! You have made it 13 days, keep that in mind when you get the cravings too. Don't give up those days you already have. You have made it 312 hours, or 18720 minutes, don't even give up a minute of that time to the cravings!

clixangel,
I found cold turkey the fastest way to quit. I tried many things but my cold turkey quit, was the quit that stuck. The first two weeks are the hardest.
congratulations
Navigator.
