I've lost one of the main reasons to be quit and it's my first day

I may not have the best advice, I have a post regarding my quit, and it shows numerous quit attempts. I know a few things, you won't be successful until you honestly want to quit, and are doing it for yourself, not to please or accommodate others. I love breathing better. This cold weather lately and being able to breath outside and it not hurt my chest! It's wonderful. The benefits are awesome, I will tell you that, you will have a lot of support to help you through this, just do it for yourself! Daytime mommy, Let this event strengthen your resolve! Why would you want to keep smoking if it has caused you to lose a job? Why would you want to keep smoking if you're going to need that extra money in the weeks to come? You can also try talking to your client about it. If a lack of income is really the reason she is leaving, ask her for a letter or recommendation and referrals. Keep going! You will get through this! Take some really deep breaths and get yourself a tall glass of ice water. You are simply going through withdrawal and that junkie thinking is kicking in. You made a rational decision when you decided to quit smoking. Remember N.O.P.E. (Not one puff ever). That is how we all quit. You do not light that next cigarette no matter what comes your way. You post, kick, scream, cry, punch a pillow, break dishes, whatever it takes but you do not give in to the addiction. You are in Hell week and they don't call it Hell week for nothing. Quitting is hard but it is doable. For me, peppermints, water, and a lot of deep breaths got me through the tough times. Post often, read even more and learn all you can about this horrible addiction. It controls your life. Refuse to be a slave to the cigarette any longer. Refuse to give in to the addiction ever again. Something I kept repeating over and over again early in my quit was the following: "Every day is one day closer to never feeling this way again." Hang on tight. No shame and No apologies. Nothing to be embarassed about. We have ALL done our share of procrastination and denial. That's what addicts do. :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/15/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 647 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 16,199 Amount Saved: $2264.5 Life Gained: Days: 91 Hrs: 8 Mins: 20 Seconds: 56

I think it is really important that you find out the reason she is removing her child from your care. Regardless of whether it is difficult to bring up, this is CRUCIAL information for you to have. In your line of work, you need this kind of feedback from parents. If it is the smoking, I agree that explaining that you have never smoked around the children is also vital information for her to have. Good luck! Now...about your quit. I have to say.....if this woman is one of the main reasons to be quit, you are not very likely to succeed. I thought this..then didn't want to say this, then decided maybe you needed to hear it. Your quit being dependent on ANYONE else's behavior does not bode well for success. This decision to quit smoking is not a light commitment. Quitting may be one of the hardest things you have ever done in your life. (It was for me, anyway) I lost, for awhile, my emotional equilibrium and my positive outlook on life. To be successful, you have to want it for YOU. You have to understand that you are an addict. You have to understand what withdrawal will entail. You have to want to be free of nicotine with ever fiber of your being. You have to HATE your addiction. You have to believe you are worth giving yourself this greatest gift. You have to want freedom more than you want your next fix. You have to develop the strength to choose life over slavery. If you decide that that is where you are at, prepare well. Do the tools on this sight. Arm yourself with information, a reward schedule and a coping plan. Hang on tight for a wild ride, but know also that there are loads of folks here who will understand and support you ever step of the way. You know, I have been where you are: said I was going to quit tomorrow, and when tomorrow came I didn't. I'm sure there is a lot of people here who have done the same thing. We all have our different reasons for quitting and we all have had excuses for going back - and if you talk to any long time quitter here, I sure you would be told there is no good excuse to smoke. Quitting is hard for most. In order to be successful you need the courage to make the first step. Determination to see you through the difficult times ahead. Confidence in yourself - believe that you can do it. Quitting is doable. Quit for five minutes at a time. Then for another five minutes. Resolve that you will do whatever it takes to remain smoke free. Many wish that they could quit for you, but that is not possible. We will help you through the next five minutes and the next 5 and so on, but ultimately you need to have the attitude of I CAN DO THIS!!!!!! And you can....if you believe!!!! You have to want to be quit more than you want to smoke. Wishing you courage!
