How much does it cost you?

Hi there, I have been wondering about that as well here in Alberta Canada I was paying 11.00/pkg of 25 cigs, when I quit, A box of the patch was 24.00 (Nic-assist) 7patches/box,I seen the nicorette gum was 50.00 not sure how many were in it I think 24 peices. Crazy how expensive they have become when I started smoking they were 55cents/pkg. Boy I'm giving away my age now. Interesting topic I'd like to know what others are paying around the world. Glad I'm now putting that money away for a great holiday in 2008 My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 81 Amount Saved: $55 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 14 Seconds: 8

Casey, Thanks for making a good point. I'm from tobacco country where cigarettes are cheap, and my Chantix isn't covered by my insurance. My $ saved on my meter seems creep so slowly compared to others' meters. Good topic holygeez (love your name)! It's really interesting to see the differences in prices in different countries and even continents. Here in British Columbia, Canada the cost varies depending on the brand and where you buy them. Most cartons average around $80.00. The cheapest (all packs of 20 including taxes) I've heard of is $7.25 for generic types, average price for pack of well known brand names is around $9.00 and some convenience stores will charge $11.00 and over for some specialty brands. I don't know the cost of NRT products right now but I know they're not cheap. Last time, 4 years ago Zyban was $180.00 for one month supply. I have no insurance, but this time my rx, was $46.90 for 101 tablets (3 months) generic bupropion (Zyban or Wellbutrin) in low dose 100 mg. So it's costing me less than a carton of cigs to quit! Here's another way I'm looking at it: The cost of becoming a slave to your cigarettes, NRT's, lighters, damage to your clothing, property and health etc: masterca*d. The cost of quitting smoking, going through withdrawl, getting free from the addiction and being healthy: PRICELESS The first pack I ever bought cost me $0.35 (yes, that's .35 cents people and is it a coincidence that I bought that pack just about 35 years ago?). What I know now, all these years later is that I cannot calculate the cost of smoking just in monetary terms but I sure am looking forward to rewarding myself with all of my savings! Here in WI I was paying $3.00 per pack of smokes (20) which included tax. I got the really generic kind though, but I liked them. A box of patches is around $45 which is why I am not using them this time. When I quit a couple years ago, they were about $10 cheaper if I remember correctly. out of all the prices of cigarettes that I have heard if you spend money on any other nicotine patch, gum, chantix,or anything else. If you stop smoking you will more than triple that cost. So isn't it worth it to quit smoking? Think about it. jnine My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 221 Amount Saved: $30.25 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 10 Mins: 43 Seconds: 40

I noticed all the different costs for cigarettes, gum and patches from posts. I read $3.95 for patches somewhere and was amazed. Here, a pack of smokes cost $9.40; a box of nicorette gum 30 pieces $10.99; and a box of 14 patches is $45.99. I wore a whole patch for a week, then half a patch the next. I went a few days on a quarter patch then decided to drop it all. A quarter patch?? Com'on trace...let go!! LOL trace Ontario Canada ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 15 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 308 Amount Saved: $135 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 2 Mins: 18 Seconds: 15

My fav part about logging in to the SSC is to see my stats...to see how much life I've gained, money I've said and it blows my mind to see how many smokes I did NOT smoke. YOOOHOOO!
