Smoking and Blood Sugar Levels

A very good thing to have for breakfast which is high in protein is an egg. I mean you can have a cold hard boiled egg ready and waiting for you in the fridge. I do that.. I boil up about 4 eggs and every 2nd day I have an egg for breakfast with a tall glass of O.J. Having the eggs ready just saves time in the a.m. instead of boiling, frying or making an omelette if you have lots of time. Then the in between days I have Special K also with the O.J. Protein is found in so many things that are easy to take to work with you if you are so inclined to cook in advance.. otherwise buy protein bars and keep one in your purse for emergencies including a juice box. Make sure the juice box isn't a juice DRINK. You need to get the JUICE, not the drink. Do a google check on high protein foods and there will be tons of info there. Protein takes time to get into your system, it takes approx. 15-20 minutes to feel the effects of the juice. Another idea as I've mentioned before is to get onto a Diabetic Diet. The foods are healthy for the heart, the sugars, the proteins, the carbs.. all of it! All the best to you .. Interesting, try as well to eat something with fibre and protein, this will stay with you longer than juices. Juices are a quick fix and you'll keep needing them unless you eat something that will stick with you. Yes, as a matter of fact, quitting DOES have an affect on blood sugar levels. Drink lots of fruit juice. This should definitely help keep your blood sugar levels up. Rusty knows more about this, and I believe she wrote a post about it once. Hopefully she will drop by and give some information about it. I don't know a whole lot, but I do know that drinking fruit juices will help you with this. Crave the Quit! I am diabetic and I know that stress can affect my blood sugar readings. As diabetes is nothing to mess around with; you should probably consult your doctor about this. My opinion? No excuse to have a cigarette!!! Lack of nicotene won't affect your blood sugar, stress over lack of nicotene? Interesting, Smoking increases both your blood pressure and your blood sugar. Please follow through with that doctors appointment as both will experience a drop in both once you quit. We recommend supervision from your MD, he/she is the best authority to advise you on this matter and whether or not your require any type of medical intervention. Smoking messed with our metabolism bigtime ! Drink orange juice & Eat lots of fruit. the Orange juice especially will help boost up your blood sugar levels. A Drag on a cigarette was self medication time !, Amongst other things , smoking a cigarette triggered our body to release sugar stores (energy), dopamine (the Ahhh Feeling) & fat stores within the body. Between 3 weeks to 3 months quit our bodies re-learn to regulate these things again to that of a non-smoker. I have a tendency to hypoglycemia. Juices and hi sweet foods, expecially in the morning, tend to make my blood sugar drop even lower. Cigarettes helped. I have found that the best solution is hi protein snacks frequently - at least every three hours and NO sugar before noon. Try starting your day with eggs or cottage cheese. (I eat two eggs every day and my cholesterol is very low) Or try beans and rice. Or cheese and nuts. Or a piece of skinless chicken. This may also help morning mood swings - at least it does for me.
